Position Summary

The position of Cath Lab Manager functions under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and ensure quality of care. The position provides leadership guidance and direction to staff. Maintains accountability for level of unit performance and results. Responsible for quality functional excellence and contribution to accomplishment of strategic and operational objectives. The Manager will practice relationships centered care in concert with the companys core values of compassion integrity and innovation and demonstrates excellent customer service standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs develops and implements strategic and operational/high level projects and processes either through independent/highly autonomous work or through the facilitation of work teams to enable the effective and efficient completion of objectives.
  • Oversees management of and ensures development for staff to meet overall objectives in terms of quality service and cost effectiveness. Provides timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem. Directs management responsibilities of selection scheduling supervision retention and evaluation of employees.
  • Meets or exceeds threshold goal for department turnover and/or system metrics on employee engagement indicators: action readiness score tier level.
  • Provides leadership and communication to maintain a competent and engaged employee group by conducting regular department meetings to review policies and procedures and operational matters rounding on all employees completing performance appraisals conducting new hire feedback sessions coaching/corrective counseling and providing recognition/commendations to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Identifies opportunities and takes action to build strategic relationships between ones area and other areas teams departments and units to achieve business goals. Drives the promotion of teamwork within and between departments; participates and/or leads and facilitates department process improvements as needed.
  • Implements change demonstrating the ability to motivate employees and follow through to ensure change in behavior has actually occurred.
  • Oversees department operations designated projects schedules and activities as needed to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame. Sets priorities and functional standards giving direction to staff as necessary to ensure the best possible delivery of service and high customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Drives department service standards and activities to impact department and/or system score for patient/customer-based satisfaction through role modeling and fostering accountability. Serves and actively participates on various entity committees as a voice for the department.
  • Maintains 24-hour accountability and authority for decisions regarding patient care unit operations and personnel management for designated unit(s).
  • Develops and manages department operational and capital budgets approvals and ongoing maintenance of the department(s) ensuring operation in a cost-effective manner. Proactively identifies and plans for capital needs related to current equipment and future department projects. Ensures staffing plans and schedules meet department needs that reflect understanding of the importance of cost-effectiveness.
  • Creates department strategies to achieve financial target and staffing needs through optimizing productivity supply/resource efficiency minimizing incidental overtime and overtime percentage and other areas according to department specifications.
  • Projects anticipated volume and demand for resources conducts cost analysis analyzes and monitors budget reports and variances evaluates human and material resource utilization and makes necessary adjustments collaborates with finance and other business personnel to develop new program initiatives. Analyzes and interprets complex data sets and reports (variance analysis financial/quality population specific reports).
  • Materials Responsibility: High: Work requires a high degree of responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include large operating or capital budgets for a large functional area major plants facilities or properties or other equivalent material assets. The employee has a large amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors might result in significant financial loss and affect overall corporate results. The difficulty variety and depth of problems associated with these material resources is moderately complex.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and policies and procedures pertaining to safety emergency preparedness infection control OSHA fire safety and hazardous materials
  • Complies with the National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate
  • Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports all accidents and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.

  • Participate in performance improvement activities as necessary

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient related issues and adhering to all HIPAA rules and regulations.

  • Explain all procedures treatments and care while remaining aware of language barriers

  • Responsible for wearing identification badge at all times which must be visible and above the waistline
  • Attend all required meetings and in-service education
  • Remain flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignments
  • Compliance with attendance standards
  • Demonstrate flexibility when changes in assignments are necessary

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • RN Licensure in the State of Texas with an Associates degree required and a Bachelors or Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of two years management experience preferred.
  • Three (3) years of general Cath Lab experience with experience in multi-specialties preferred. Six (6) months to one year clinical experience in an acute care setting required.
  • Maintains professional growth and development though seminars workshops and professional affiliation to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise
  • Takes responsibility to maintain skills and enhance own performance
  • Completes annual educational requirements
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the population served. Able to interpret data about the patients status in order to identify each patients age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group

LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

  • The physical demands for this position include: adequate vision hearing and repetitive motion
  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature
  • Ascending or descending stairs ramps and the like using feet and legs and/or hands and arms
  • Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist hands and/or fingers in a repetitive manner
  • Bending legs downward and forward by bending leg and spine

Must be able to work in a stressful environment. They may be exposed to biohazards and chemicals as outlined in the Infection Control Safety and MSDS Manuals. Standard Precautions is required with significant potential for exposure to latex. This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds pushing and pulling more than 100 pounds. It may also require frequent standing walking balancing stooping bending kneeling and reaching. Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity and the ability to be readily understood are essential.

Working Conditions:

Handles emergency or crisis situations. Requires judgment/action that could result in death of patient. Exposure to X-ray.
