The primary responsibility of a Shop Helper is to perform general labor tasks. In this position your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with disassembly and reassembly of motors generators and pumps.
- Sandblast steam clean cleans and prep parts.
- Operates the cutout saw and put motors generators and pumps in the burn out oven.
- Performs tasks as required for general facility maintenance and upkeep including but not limited to lawn care general janitorial duties sweeping pressure washing and painting.
- Operate company equipment (i.e.: Forklift Crane hand tools etc.) in a safe and efficient manner in the performance of all duties as required.
- Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
- Comply with all company policies / procedures and perform all job functions in an ethical manner.
- Complete all required safety training.
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear for all tasks.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area free of hazards as directed by supervisor.
- Performs all applicable duties in accordance with ISO procedures if required.
- Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- Must pass all required pre-employment screenings Background MVR Physical Drug screen.
- Be able to comply with all drug and alcohol policies of Houma Armature Works and/or customer sponsored programs. Subject to random Drug and Alcohol screenings.
- Be able to operate motor vehicles in compliance with all state and federal requirements if travel required.
- Possess valid identification.
- Must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends if required.
- Ability to successfully complete all required training in-house/offsite.
- Forklift and overhead crane certification required.
- Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic/Experienced mechanic knowledge.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to read write and follow work instructions.
- Ability to interface with co-workers and customers.
- Ability to prioritize organize and meet deadlines.
- Team player attitude with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Additional Job Details
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
