Position Overview
The Manager Marketing and Communications is responsible for the development implementation and tracking of marketing and communications strategies to grow the PSF brand community and supporters through digital and traditional campaigns. The Marketing and Communications Manager also oversees PSFs digital channels media relations and content planning to support the organizations strategic objective to broaden and scale up PSFs supporter base and fundraising to advance salmon recovery and resilience. The Manager Marketing and Communications leads a team of marketing and communications experts.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Manager Marketing and Communications key responsibilities include:
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Manage mentor and guide marketing and communications team
- Develop and track annual marketing and communications budget
- Collaborate with the Development team to align marketing and fundraising campaigns
- Lead content strategy in collaboration with Programs
- Collaborate with Events on promotions and communications
- Perform other duties as required to support team goals and priorities
Marketing
- Lead strategy and execution of the PSFs marketing campaigns to build PSFs brand strengthen donor engagement and support new donor acquisition
- Manage PSFs website and strategy to integrate PSFs digital tools such as Pacific Salmon Explorer and Marine Data Centre and build a cohesive brand experience
- Build and align multichannel campaigns with fundraising targets and strategies
- Lead content and growth strategy for PSFs owned digital channels and paid media
- Lead PSFs e-mail strategy in support of; deepening connections with PSFs supporters raising awareness for PSFs programs and their impact fundraising conversion and event promotion
- Develop manage and implement advertising initiatives that build PSFs brand and drive engagement
- Collaborate with Development team to identify new marketing and direct response opportunities that support PSFs growth
- Collaborate with external contractors designers and vendors to manage creative production and campaign assets
- Evaluate digital and media analytics in a proactive way to grow PSFs brand reach and further develop effective marketing strategies
Communications
- Lead strategy content planning and story identification for PSF
- Lead content identification in collaboration with PSFs program leads to advance awareness knowledge translation and influence
- Provide oversight and approvals for PSFs digital and print communications including social media newsletters web content media releases etc.
- Oversee video and marketing asset development; strategy and cross-channel promotion
- Oversee thought leadership proactive reactive and crisis media relations
- Oversee media and reach analytics and quarterly reporting on results
- Develop and execute marketing and communications to support events and community activations
- Stay ahead of the curve with emerging technologies and trends demonstrating understanding of how they integrate into PSFs marketing and communications initiatives; and
- Other duties as required
Exercising Judgment/Impact of Decisions
The Manager Marketing and Communications will exercise independent judgment and take initiative while performing their duties. The Manager Marketing and Communications will be accountable for the effective execution of assigned duties which is critical to the success of the PSF. The Manager Marketing and Communications interacts with varying levels of staff consultants and other stakeholders. Errors or lapses in judgment will adversely impact the reputation and efficiency of the PSF.
Reporting and Supervision
The Manager Marketing and Communications reports to the Vice President Development Marketing & Communications and works collaboratively with peers on the DMC team to support organization and department goals.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in a similar role
- Bachelors degree in marketing communications or similar
- Demonstrated history of successfully leading people
- Demonstrated history of leading marketing campaigns with clear results
- Strong knowledge of paid media platforms and tracking tools Google analytics Meta and Googe Ads Adobe Creative Suite Hootsuite MS Office and email marketing platforms
- Strong experience with platforms including Mailchimp and WordPress
- Content creation and graphic design experience is an asset
- Familiarity with fundraising and marketing strategies that drive conversion in the charitable sector is an asset

Location
This role is hybrid reporting to the PSF Vancouver office. Travel within B.C. will be required to participate in meetings workshops and staff gatherings.
Compensation
The compensation structure of this role is comprised of base pay and benefits package.
The base pay range for this position is $87000 - $105000 per year with the final salary offer based on qualifications job-related skills and relevant experience.
PSF offers a generous benefits package including:
- 15 paid vacation days;
- 1 paid personal day per full month of employment to a maximum of 19 days;
- Paid holiday closure in December;
