We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Attorney to lead our tax planning services division. The Director of Tax Planning Services will be responsible for providing expert guidance and direction on complex tax strategies ensuring tax efficiency and compliance for our clients and optimizing tax structures. This role requires strong leadership skills deep tax law knowledge and the ability to translate tax savings opportunities into actionable plans for clients across various industries particularly in real estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Tax Planning Services: Oversee the tax planning services division ensuring efficient effective service delivery that aligns with our firm s goals and commitment to client success.
- Client Consultation and Strategy: Collaborate with clients to understand their financial goals then design and implement customized tax strategies that optimize their tax position while ensuring compliance.
- Research and Analysis: Stay current on federal state and local tax laws regulations and trends; proactively identify new opportunities and threats to optimize tax planning.
- Team Development: Build and manage a team of tax professionals; foster a collaborative and inclusive environment and promote ongoing education to keep the team up-to-date on changing tax codes and regulations.
- Complex Case Oversight: Provide guidance and solutions for clients with sophisticated or complex tax needs including high-net-worth individuals and real estate investors.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure accurate documentation and compliance in all tax filings reports and client recommendations.
- Client Education: Develop educational content or presentations to help clients understand the value of tax planning compliance and available credits and incentives.
- Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with other departments including accounting finance and operations to create seamless integrated service offerings for clients.
Requirements
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) with an active license to practice law; LLM in Taxation is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in tax law with a focus on tax planning compliance and strategy; experience with real estate clients is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in federal state and local tax regulations; familiarity with tax credits incentives and planning strategies particularly for real estate.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and a strategic mindset for navigating complex tax structures.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of building and managing effective teams.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex tax concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences.
