Residence Hall Directorto oversee the daily operations of a campus residence hall and responsible for creating a safe inclusive and engaging living environment that supports the academic and personal growth of students. This role involves supervising student staff managing administrative functions and addressing the needs of residents to enhance their on-campus living experience


Responsibilities

  • Organize inspire and influence students and staff to believe in a shared vision creating a sense of common purpose centered on well-being and growth.
  • Analyze all aspects of situations and make consistently sound and timely decisions that benefit the community and support student success.
  • Effectively and tactfully handle difficult or sensitive issues embracing different points of view to resolve conflicts and bring cohesion to the community.
  • Interact positively and fairly with a wide array of stakeholders carefully listening to their concerns and perspectives.
  • Identify and prioritize competing tasks and responsibilities ensuring the efficient use of time and resources.
  • Overcome obstacles and difficulties to achieve desired outcomes ensuring the smooth operation of community programs and initiatives.
  • Provide direct supervision and evaluation of paraprofessional staff members (Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants) including assisting with recruitment selection placement and training of undergraduate Residence Hall staff.
  • Lead the development implementation and evaluation of residence hall educational and social programming.
  • Coordinate occupancy management reports for assigned living areas including managing room changes roommate conflicts and roommate agreements.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all keys equipment supplies and furniture within the assigned residence hall.
  • Request maintenance and custodial repairs and ensure their timely completion.
  • Prepare all required reports records and evaluations promptly and accurately as assigned.
  • Participate in the rotation of on-call responsibilities and be available for extended workdays weekend duty activities and emergencies.
  • Complete other assignments and duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life & Housing or their designee.


Education

  • A Bachelors degree is required; a masters degree in Student Personnel Student Affairs or Higher Education is preferred.
  • Experience developing residence hall communities providing educational and personal support for students responding to student concerns and behaviors advising student organizations facility and administrative management and participating in department initiatives and campus life is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
