About the role

As the Environmental Senior Specialist you will be responsible for the detailed analysis planning execution and technical evaluations to lead coordinate and write Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) in particular Review of Environmental Factors (REF) seeking consent and ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation to safeguard Essential Energy against legal role will require community interaction including attending community information sessions or presenting to the community about projects.

The position will take ownership for the identification of environmental issues and advise on broader environmental constraints and risks associated with network operations. The position is a key environmental leadership role with organisation wide responsibilities in the implementation of environmental law ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

The role will support the connection of major complex connections and Essential Energys unregulated business Intium. Establishing and managing budgets and delivering approvals within time critical limitations are fundamental requirements of the role.

This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities:

About You

To succeed in this role you will have strong professional experience in an environmental planning impact assessment and approvals and ideally with linear infrastructure experience with excellent writing skills. You will have a demonstrated ability to work autonomously delivering high quality reports containing complex and variable environmental aspects on budget and within a tight timeframe.

You will have excellent conceptual analytical and critical thinking skillsin identifying improvements and initiating change. You will have the demonstrated skills and capacity to successfully manage complex issues within a team environment.
