Job Description

General Manager
St. Paul MN Direct-Hire $140000-$160000 OTE Fully Onsite

Responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational execution across core business areas including Sales Engineering Production Quality Finance and Human Resources. This leadership position partners closely with ownership to ensure alignment with the companys long-term objectives while driving performance efficiency and profitability across all departments.

Essential Functions:

Executive & Operational Leadership

  • Establish and execute tactical plans performance goals budgets and workflow strategies to drive organizational growth and profitability.
  • Maintain full accountability for the companys income statement including revenue costs and margin performance.
  • Represent the organization in key customer interactions to strengthen market presence and develop new strategic relationships.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives including competitive market analysis customer expansion opportunities and product development pipelines.
  • Oversee daily functions of multiple departments and ensure operational activities are aligned with business priorities.
  • Guide department leaders in setting and achieving long-term departmental milestones that support corporate objectives.
  • Conduct regular assessments of departmental output and lead corrective action planning where necessary.
  • Collaborate with production management to interpret output data and resolve bottlenecks or resource constraints.
  • Develop implement and enforce criteria for supplier and vendor qualification.
  • Partner with the sales organization to assess pipeline performance refine sales process metrics and report outcomes to executive leadership.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of cross-functional business initiatives.

Financial Oversight

  • Lead the review and approval of budgeting forecasts capital planning and financial reporting outputs.
  • Allocate spending across departments to maximize ROI on operations staffing and strategic investments.
  • Analyze operational costs and financial trends to recommend adjustments and drive performance improvement.
  • Monitor P&L reports revenue growth and cost control metrics to ensure financial health and organizational stability.

Sales & Engineering Coordination

  • Architect and maintain a high-level sales strategy that aligns with company revenue goals and market positioning.
  • Establish profitability targets and guide pricing and margin strategy development.
  • Conduct territory analysis and identify vertical markets for growth; oversee customer segmentation and coverage planning.
  • Direct the performance and development of a small team comprising sales and engineering professionals.
  • Drive performance management training and coaching across the commercial team.
  • Support closing efforts on key accounts and high-value opportunities as needed.
  • Define compensation and incentive plans to align with performance metrics.
  • Analyze CRM and sales data to identify trends and present strategy recommendations to ownership.

Human Capital & Organizational Development

  • Shape internal communications programs to reinforce corporate mission values and strategic direction.
  • Ensure full compliance with local state and federal labor regulations.
  • Define document and administer HR policies and employee handbooks.
  • Lead talent acquisition training onboarding and professional development initiatives across all departments.
  • Oversee total rewards strategy including salary structures and benefits plans.
  • Champion positive employee relations and maintain a high-performance workplace culture.
  • Approve headcount needs and ensure staffing aligns with business requirements.
  • Establish KPIs for individual and team performance and implement review systems.
  • Manage and mentor key personnel; identify skill gaps and succession planning needs.
  • Evaluate individual and team output; implement action plans and additional coaching as necessary.
  • Oversee company-wide strategic projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Regularly evaluate employee satisfaction and engagement data; recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices through events networking and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of executive or senior operational management experience in a manufacturing setting (metal fabrication or similar preferred)
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field required
  • Demonstrated financial acumen including P&L responsibility and budgeting expertise
  • Strong strategic thinking planning and leadership skills
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Proven success in change management and performance optimization
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
