IT Help Desk Specialist:

Role:
The IT Help Desk Specialist provides technical support and assistance to faculty staff and students at Grayson College. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the colleges technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills excellent customer service abilities and a solid understanding of computer systems and software.

The salary range for this position is $20.69 to $31.04 per hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • 30% Provide first-level technical support for hardware software and network issues via phone email and in-person.
  • 25% Troubleshoot and resolve computer-related problems for supported software systems.
  • 20% Document and track all support requests using a ticketing system.
  • 10% Maintain knowledge and documentation of college IT systems software and processes.
  • 5% Provide basic computer training and instruction to users as needed.
  • 5% Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • 5% Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Education: (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy tact and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information building relationships or soliciting cooperation.
  • Other Skills: Agile Scrum experience. Higher education financial aid knowledge. Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF Wicket GWT Spring MVC). Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP. Experience working with CAMS Enterprise. Three or more years experience in the Programming Languages of C C# C Classic ASP/VB Script Java SQL .NET and in technical skills in Office Suite Visual Studio Windows Server llS SSRS Crystal Reports HTML/CSS.
  • Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However there may be some walking standing bending carrying of light items driving an automobile etc. No special physical demands are required to do the work.
  • Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
