Ottawa is also a dynamic and growing centre for research-driven innovation and development in leading-edge technologies.The AVP RSI will ensure that the use of animals in research and in teaching conforms to the most rigorous ethical standards while actively supporting cutting edge science.
The AVP RSI is also accountable for the Office of the Research Ethics and Integrity to ensure research projects respect all applicable guidelines including those of the Tri-councils (SSHRC NSERC and CIHR). The AVP RSI plays a key role in securing the Universitys leadership position within the local and national health science ecosystems. Science services include activities to support research centered thematics supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (IHRC).
Major activities
As a senior member of the OVPRI executive team the incumbent will play a key leadership role in the management of the Strategic Development Initiative (SDI) group as well as the Animal Care and Veterinary Services (ACVS) Animal Ethics (AE) and the Office of the Research Ethics and Integrity (OREI) which serve the Universitys mission to be among the leading public research universities in the world. The incumbent will also be the point person in the OVPRI executive team for research covered under the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
The Associate Vice-President Research Support and Infrastructure:
The Associate Vice-President Research Support and Infrastructure must possess excellent organizational and research leadership skills and must be able to gain and maintain the respect of the research community both within the University of Ottawa as well as across Canada and internationally. Key experience and competencies include:
Effective: September 1st 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The initial appointment will be for a renewable mandate of five years.
Rank and salary: determined by the candidates qualifications and experience.
