Position Description

The Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management (NHM) in the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a full-time nine-month non-tenure-track position at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor. We seek a dynamic and experienced professional with a strong clinical background as a Registered Dietitian.

Candidates must hold a masters degree in Nutrition Dietetics or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university possess the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and hold or be eligible for active Mississippi state licensure. An Earned doctoral degree or ABD status is preferred. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience as an RDN in a hospital outpatient long-term care or community setting along with at least one year of teaching experience in higher education. Additionally candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of current practice standards evidence-based nutrition and clinical guidelines.

This position involves teaching and mentoring in clinical courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level related to Dietetics and Nutrition. Additional responsibilities include assisting with student recruitment retention and graduation initiatives; serving on academic and departmental committees; engaging in curriculum design and revision; and fostering partnerships with industry and local community partners.

The successful candidate may begin as early as August 2025.

The School of Applied Sciences located on the University of Mississippi campus in Oxford MS is an inclusive home to approximately 150 faculty and staff over 3000 students six academic departments four centers and an institute. The school currently serves 9 undergraduate 10 masters and 4 doctoral programs ( NHM department is home to 15 faculty members 2 staff members and approximately 360 students from around the world ( NHM currently offers two undergraduate programs (B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition; B.S. in Hospitality Management) two masters degree programs (M.S. in Food and Nutrition Services; M.S. Hospitality Management and Leadership) and two Ph.D. programs (Ph.D. in Nutrition Sciences; Ph.D. in Hospitality Management beginning this fall). Both the B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition program and the Coordinated Program (CP) in Dietetics program at the University of Mississippi are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). The Hospitality Management program at the University of Mississippi is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA).
