Southeastern Louisiana Universitys Department of Chemistry and Physics invites applications for the position of Instructor of Chemistry. As an Instructor you will be expected to teach undergraduate-level courses and labs. You would be responsible for preparing lessons and assessments based on a list of course learning objectives and using the textbook already adopted. You may have the opportunity to teach in the dual enrollment program and teach high school students a college level course using a trained high school teacher as a facilitator. Additionally you would be expected to participate in service activities for the Department University and Community.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in Chemistry from an accredited university with at least 18 credit hours of graduate level chemistry courses by hire date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
Experience teaching introductory chemistry lecture and laboratory courses to non-science majors.
Experience working with high school students and teachers is beneficial.
A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and service.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Willingness to serve in a community that values all students and to collaborate with faculty of varied backgrounds.
