Job Description

Job Title: Chief Financial Officer

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Department: Accounting

Status: Exempt

Position Summary: The successful candidate will be a highly organized and experienced financial leader to oversee the accounting and finance needs of SCS. The Chief Financial Officer will be at the heart of our financial decision-making process driving key projects and providing strategic insights to our Executive Team. This role requires a person with strong leadership skills and the ability to drive the mission and vision of SC Swiderski with financial Institutions the communities we work with and our Leadership and Staff here at SCS with equal effectiveness.

Job Duties:

Financial Operations. ( 60%)

  • Tackles complex analytical problems and leads the qualitative and quantitative analysis of projects associated with potential acquisitions investments mergers financings capital projects and other proposed transactions that require review by the CEO and COO
  • Performs financial process and data analysis that allows finance and company leadership to make informed decisions on complex strategic initiatives
  • Secures funding for large single & multi-family residential and commercial construction projects by working with banks and financial institutions
  • Researches industry trends and leads strategic evaluation financial analysis and valuation work
  • Leads the development of business cases for key strategic initiatives and identifies assesses and communicates risks and opportunities of various strategic initiatives and projects
  • Researches benchmarking analyses that identifies opportunities to promote a more efficient operations/cost profile. Recommends ways to help reduce costs for customers and shares ideas with Finance leadership
  • Builds and maintains a complex standardized regulatory financial model to support the company focusing on macro analysis
  • Leads accounting-related qualitative and quantitative analysis of projects associated with potential acquisitions investments mergers divestitures financings capital projects business development support and other proposed transactions that require review by the CEO & COO. This role also provides strategic financial advice to the CEO and COO on all financial matters
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support our Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Planning & Strategy ( 20%)

  • Participates with corporate leadership in strategic planning process and developing strategic initiatives to drive the success of the overall organization.
  • Leads the financial analysis for SC Swiderskis strategic projects that impact SCS long-term strategic financial future
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop financial strategies that position SCS for long-term success
  • Engage with SC Swiderskis senior executives through providing financial support for projects going through Executive and Review process overseeing financial analysis for various high-impact projects
  • Lead exciting and evolving projects that may include tax equity initiatives customer expansion and acquisitions and divestiture analysis
  • Influence decision making on SCSs long-term financial planning and community engagement process
  • Develop advanced financial models that will drive our business forward including contributing to the development of the broader Accounting and Finance team.

Team Leadership ( 20%)

  • Select and develop a high functioning Accounting and Finance team capable of providing industry-leading services to SCS
  • Develop and implement a departmental vision and strategy including strategic goals internal KPIs initiatives and projects to support those goals
  • Mentors and assists in the development of business acumen and regulatory financial knowledge with staff temporarily assigned to strategic projects
  • Lead the review development and implementation of all Accounting and Finance related SOPs within the Accounting and other cross functional teams at SCS.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting finance business or equivalent experience required
  • Masters or advanced degree (MBA) is a plus
  • Certification CFA or CPA preferred.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience required with at least 3 years in a construction environment preferred
  • 7 years of experience with business/finance/accounting software platforms such as ERP accounting cost/expense project management HRIS and other industry related software platforms
  • A candidate with executive presence and expertise in financial research particularly within the construction sector.
  • Someone who excels at analyzing and creating complex financial models making strategic recommendations and working independently with minimal direction
  • Advanced financial and accounting knowledge with solid financial analysis and planning skills
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and deliver strategically important projects through completion
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems with innovative creative solutions
  • Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and leadership skills and a proven history of successfully promoting positive teamwork
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal to convey complex financial information to non-financial audiences
  • A proactive individual who brings energy and drive to every project helping us achieve our strategic financial goals.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule for a Chief Financial Officer requires the ability to work 40 50 hours per week during normal business hours of Monday Friday with occasional hours outside out of that range as business necessitates. Site visits and occasional travel are required with this position. The Incumbent must have good organizational skills be self-motivated possess good time management skills and can communicate with people at all levels.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs short distances
  • Ability to sitor stand at a computer desk for long periods of time
  • Clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and respond appropriately in-person email and/or on the telephone.

Work Environment:

The majority of time spent in this position takes place in a professional office setting working with project teams and all levels of Company personnel. Occasional in-state travel (and out of state as expansion occurs) to active jobsites occurs with this position.
