Job Description

Job Title: Bright Beginnings Early Childhood Education Teacher and SAP Teacher
Reports To: Early Childhood Education Manager & Elementary Program Manager
Classification: Exempt
Full-Time: Full-Time: approximately 8:15am-5:45pm Monday through Thursday and 8:30am-12:30pm Friday

Bright Beginnings ECE Teacher Approximately 27 hours Summary/Objective:

With the leadership and guidance of the Early Childhood Education Manager the Bright Beginnings Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher is responsible for the implementation of a high-quality comprehensive and developmentally appropriate preschool program. The Bright Beginnings ECE Teacher works in close partnership with the ECE Support Teacher and other Family Literacy staff and volunteers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:
  • Utilize Creative Curriculum DCF Performance standards and Grace Places established curriculum to develop schemes of work lesson plans and instructional activities that facilitate and promote early learning skills that are carried over into the home.
  • Create a developmentally appropriate classroom environment and identify and select differentiated instructional resources and methods to meet students individual needs.
  • Build positive relationships with students and families thereby providing effective ongoing coaching of parents in appropriate strategies. These strategies are to be modeled during Parent and Child Together (P.A.C.T.) time.
  • Maintain a well-organized DCF-compliant safe and attractive classroom environment conductive to the optimal growth and development of children.


Outcomes:
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and development; maintaining records to be included in Teaching Strategies Gold on each childs progress to be utilized for the purposes of planning and evaluation.
  • Comply with and complete all required Grace Place evaluations and checkpoints throughout the academic year.
  • Incorporate student performance and progress into the lesson planning and implemented activities to achieve mastery of outcomes and goals.
  • Identify developmental and social-emotional needs of children and make appropriate interventions and referrals with the guidance of the Director of Early Childhood Education.


Volunteer Management:
  • Welcome and effectively manage volunteer involvement in the ECE classroom.
  • Provide effective on-going coaching in appropriate strategies and model these strategies in the classroom.
  • Maintain high visibility and a hands-on presence with students staff volunteers and parents in all aspects of the program.
  • Ensure outcome reporting effectively demonstrates program impact and student progress.


Communication:
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their childs progress and needs.
  • Keep parents informed of program expectations and activities.
  • Contribute information on classrooms objectives to bi-monthly volunteer newsletter.
  • Communicate regularly with direct team members for the seamless delivery of classroom lessons and achievement of objectives.
  • Conduct home visits and staff/parent conferences.


SAP Teacher Approximately 13 hours Summary/Objective:

The Elementary School Age Program Lead Teacher is responsible for the development and oversight of high-quality age-appropriate unit and lesson plans. The Lead Teacher will assist classroom teachers Lead Program Assistants and volunteers in the delivery of daily and weekly unit and lesson plans. The Lead Teacher will monitor student assessment and progress monitoring data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build and support an elementary school-age developmentally appropriate instructional program that aligns to the program components of the 21st CCLC program standards.
  • Evaluate and monitor the design of high-quality developmentally appropriate classroom learning activities including the selection of materials and resources to meet the needs of all students in the program.
  • Maintain positive and supportive relationships with staff volunteers students modeling and supporting developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
  • Effectively organize and manage volunteers supporting the academic support of elementary school-age students.
  • Coordinate monitor and assist with ongoing student classroom and program assessments aligned to identified performance outcomes.
  • Provide individual student needs and assist with intervention strategies including access to outside program resources and services necessary to meet the needs of all students.

  • Maintain high visibility and a hands-on presence with students staff volunteers and parents in all aspects of the program.
Communication:
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their childs progress and needs.
  • Communicate regularly with direct team members for the seamless delivery of classroom lessons and achievement of objectives.
  • Assist with Student Led Parent Conferences.

And
  • Performs any other duties or responsibilities as requested.


Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelors degree preferably with emphasis in education TESOL or a related field required.
  • Florida Teacher Certificate preferred.

Experience:
  • At least one year of teaching experience preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Meet required DCF training courses (45 hours) (can obtain within 180 days of employment.)
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures and populations and ability to communicate effectively preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel use of the internet and basic computer skills sufficient to maintain program records and budgets generate publicity materials and communicate with parents volunteers partners and community.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of Grace Place.
  • Current first aid and CPR certificates (can obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Willing to submit to Fingerprinting and Background Checks.
  • Compliance with Good Moral Character as descried by DCF.

  • Work Environment: Position requires working in numerous locations which include varied temperature noise level and other factors that may affect a persons working conditions while performing the job.
  • Position Type and Expected Working Hours: Full-time Anticipated working hours of approximately 8:30am-5:30pm Monday through Thursday and 8:30am-1:30pm Friday including some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Physical Demands: Bending sitting and standing for long periods of time. May require lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs. as needed.
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Background check fingerprinting required.
