Job Description

GenPrides Engagement and Development (E&D) Director integrates Major Gifts and Resource Development Engagement and Communication Strategies to strengthen and expand GenPrides network of individual and organizational support to advance our mission and deepen our impact.


Centered in racial aging and LGBTQIA2S equity the E&D Director is a deeply collaborative leader motivated to engage people strengthen relationships and expand GenPrides relational and resource capacity. They thrive in a small organization poised for growth change and transformation.

This full-time exempt position is based primarily in person at the GenPride community center in Capitol Hill
where frequent and regular interruptions are common. Some early morning evening and weekend hours are . The E&D Director leads a small staff team and collaborates across GenPride while engaging the time talents and passions of partners participants volunteers board members and supporters to advance shared goals.

Now celebrating ten years of advocating for the wellbeing of LGBTQIA2S elders GenPride champions the unique needs of LGBTQIA2S older adults across Seattle and King County. We offer innovative programs and services that promote wellness prevent isolation and cultivate belonging and wellbeing.

Located in the heart of Seattles Capitol Hill neighborhood the GenPride Center is on the ground floor of Pride Place our regions first affordable LGBTQIA2S-affirming housing for older adults created in partnership with Community Roots Housing. Pride Place is a vibrant gathering space and the hub of GenPrides county-wide work to build a future where LGBTQIA2S elders are seen supported and celebrated.


Primary Responsibilities

This role has three core focus areas:

  • Major Gifts & Resource Development Lead and grow diverse revenue streams from individuals corporate sponsors and events.
  • Engagement Strategy Design inclusive pathways for LGBTQIA2S elders and allies to connect and be a part of GenPrides impact.
  • Communications & Storytelling Elevate stories and messages that increase visibility and support for LGBTQIA2S elders.

Major Gifts & Resource Development (55%)

  • Lead and grow GenPrides major gifts and donor programs by developing values-aligned giving opportunities supported by targeted research donor communications and a clear cultivation pipeline.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects with clear cultivation solicitation and stewardship plans.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to set and achieve annual fundraising goals and strategic development plans.
  • Support and coordinate the donor engagement efforts of the Executive Director board members and key staff.
  • Plan and lead GenPrides major events and giving campaigns.
  • Foster partnerships with aligned businesses and institutions.
  • Track evaluate and report fundraising outcomes.


Engagement Strategy (20%)

  • Design and implement an inclusive engagement strategy that moves people from first contact to sustained involvement.
  • Create welcoming pathways for LGBTQIA2S elders allies volunteers and partners to meaningfully connect with GenPrides mission.
  • Lead GenPrides engagement efforts across programs campaigns and events to foster broad and ongoing participation.
  • Partner with the Board Development Committee to deepen board and volunteer involvement.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify and act on opportunities to build engagement and belonging across
    GenPride.


Communications & Storytelling (15%)

  • Lead GenPrides messaging to build awareness deepen relationships and advance strategic goals in collaboration with staff and leadership.
  • Guide the content creation and application of targeted content including annual reports solicitations corporate proposals appeals and stewardship materials
    to engage donors and prospects.
  • Ensure that content that centers the lived experiences of LGBTQIA2S elders in public-facing storytelling
    to increase visibility and advance strategic goals.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for media public speaking and partnerships that expand GenPrides reach and influence.

Internal Leadership (10%)

  • Integrate racial aging and LGBTQIA2S equity lensinto team work plans and organizational strategy to shape priorities practices and outcomes.
  • Commit to personal growth and learning particularly around equity and justice.
  • Supervise support and grow the currently small Community Engagement team to implement GenPrides work in a values-aligned way.
  • Participate actively in organizational culture-building activities.
  • Contribute to shaping a mission-focused inclusive joyful and community-centered organizational culture.


Desired Qualifications

Tangible Skills

  • Minimum two years of experience managing
    or directing development and engagement work in a 501(c)(3) setting with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven success in engagement and fundraising with individual and institutional donors including improving major gift systems and cultivation pipeline.
  • Highly proficient with donor management tools (Salesforce preferred) email systems and social media platforms to cultivate and grow relationships.
  • Experience supervising direct reports and supporting collaborative team dynamics.
  • Strong writing speaking and storytelling skills with the ability to communicate across multiple formats and audiences.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint SharePoint) Adobe Suite and adaptable to new technologies.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work on-site/in person (typically four days/week) in a dynamic high-sensory environment with regular interruptions.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform work that involves sitting moving around the center stooping bending and lifting up to 25 pounds. Must be able to work in a community setting with frequent interruptions and periodic early morning evening or weekend hours.
