Job Summary
The General Manager (GM) of the Border States Distribution Center oversees the daily operations by leading a team of logistics professionals. Key responsibilities include ensuring team safety managing warehouse operations and transportation and conducting financial forecasting and planning to support Border States supply network strategy. This position works closely with the Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain Transformation team to ensure Distribution Center operation aligns with the organization supply network strategy and objectives.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Manages daily distribution center activities including material receiving storage shipping and maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Leads hires trains and develops a team of logistics professionals and leaders to enhance performance.
- Develops and implements warehousing operations strategies to drive efficiency accuracy productivity and cost reduction in the distribution centers fulfillment process.
- Leads quarterly forecasting processes and maintains accountability for financial targets and plans for the areas distribution center.
- Ensures adherence to all safety regulations and company policies in line with OSHA and FMSCA requirements.
- Coordinates inbound and outbound transportation with third-party carriers and the Border States fleet.
- Works closely with operating branches and sales leaders to optimize customer experience and fulfillment strategies building and maintaining strong relationships.
- Monitors and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Non-essential Functions
- Travels to Border States branches regional meetings or branch support center as needed.
- Travels with branch/area/sales leaders to meet with customers supported by the distribution center.
- Travels to industry events and trade shows.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or other designate.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering supply chain management logistics industrial distribution or related field preferred.
- 5 years of warehouse or distribution center management and leadership experience required.
- Experience implementing and utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required.
- Advanced supply-chain leadership or relevant certification/training (e.g. CSCP CPIM CLTD Six Sigma CEP CSP or CPP) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Access PowerPoint) preferred.
