Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Tenbury High Ormiston Academy

About the role


Key details:

  • Working week:Monday to Friday 30 hours per week shifts TBC term-time only.
  • Wage:7.55 per hour
  • Location: Oldbury Road Tenbury Wells Worcestershire WR15 8XA
  • Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Teaching Assistant
  • Duration:16 months


Overview of the role:


This role involves working under the direction of teaching or senior staff to support the physical general and learning care of pupils including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). It includes supervising individuals or groups supporting pupil access to learning and providing general assistance to the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom. Additional tasks may be carried out as reasonably directed by the Senior Leadership Team and SENDCo.


Responsibilities will include:


Support for Pupils:

  • Attend to the pupils personal needs and implement related personal programmes includingsocial health physical first aid and welfare matters
  • Lead one to one or small group interventions where appropriate to support pupils academicpersonal social and emotional progress.
  • Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning
  • Establish good relationships with pupils acting as a role model and being aware of and respondingappropriately to individual needs
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
  • Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate
  • Assisting with the promotion of independence activities and mobility skills.


Support for the Teacher:

  • Prepare classroom as directed for lessons and clear afterwards and assist with the display of pupilswork
  • Be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed
  • Undertake pupil record keeping as requested
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour reporting difficulties as appropriate
  • Gather/report information from/to parents/carers as directed
  • Provide clerical/admin support e.g. photocopying typing and filing.


Support for the School:

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection health safety andsecurity confidentiality and data protection reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
  • Attend relevant meetings and training as required
  • To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their developmentand training
  • Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times including before and after school
  • Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits trips and out of school activities as required
