TITLE
Director Collection Strategies and Discovery
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Integrated Library Resources and Support this position works closely with administrative and library colleagues to carry out the mission of the TWU Libraries by providing leadership direction and oversight of the Collection Strategies and Discovery unit which provides access to a broad range of materials that support the Universitys academic programs and research initiatives. The Director of Collection Strategies and Discovery leads areas related to collection development collection management cataloging access and the development of physical and digital resources. This position works collaboratively with all three campus libraries and serves as a member of the TWU Libraries administrative leadership team setting the direction and goals for the TWU Libraries. This position works to ensure that library resources and services are appropriate and accessible to TWU students faculty and staff and that the Libraries are responsible stewards of the Universitys financial resources. Timely communication and adherence to deadlines is a critical part of this position. This is a supervisory position that is responsible for hiring training evaluating and mentoring staff. The Director sets goals and priorities initiates projects implements standards and develops workflow procedures. This is a security sensitive position that works under minimal supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Performance is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures and is based on the accomplishment of defined objectives and the effectiveness of the assigned library functions.

EDUCATION
Masters degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE
Six years of professional library experience with a record of increasing knowledge and responsibility in the administration of libraries and a minimum of two years of experience in an administrative/managerial role. Experience working with researchers and administrators in an academic environment is preferred.
Additional education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
REQUIREMENT
Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

The physical demands of this job include repetitive hand motion hearing listening talking While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to utilize repetitive hand motion hearing listening talking walking bending stooping crouching reaching overhead pulling pushing climbing ladders kneeling squatting are all requirements of this position. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Possible eye strain from detailed computer work.The employee may be required to travel work evenings and/or weekends.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
All employees are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination intimidation harassment including sexual harassment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment. Employee may be exposed to dust mites or other atmospheric conditions that could affect the respiratory system.
