Job Description

We are currently seeking a Managing Director to head up Meals & More a registered charity on a full-time permanent basis reporting to the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Meals & More.

Meals & More transforms the school holidays by supporting the provision of healthy meals and enriching activities through trusted community partners. We collaborate with holiday clubs across the UK with a particular focus on areas of financial and social depravation. These clubs ensure that children (and their carers) have a safe environment to grow and thrive we believe that every child matters and deserves a good start in life not only at school but throughout the year. Celebrating 10 years in 2025 Meals & More was founded by Brakes (now Sysco GB) and continues to benefit from their strong partnership as our largest funder.

The Managing Director is responsible for the day-to-day management strategic growth and direction of Meals & More together with the line management of the Meals & More team (currently 3 colleagues). In addition the Managing Director provides support and is accountable to the Board of Trustees is responsible for oversight of the finances and reporting systems. The Managing Director works closely with the Meals & More Trustees Meals & More colleagues the Sysco GB network as well as both current and potential Delivery Partners and Corporate Supporters throughout the UK and Ireland. Relationships with stakeholders of all types including MPs is also key.

The Managing Director will drive awareness and support for Meals & More in all areas from public engagement to partner and delivery partner relations. The Managing Director will lead on the development of Meals & Mores strategy as well as the day to day running of the charity.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • To lead on the delivery of Meals & Mores charitable purpose through its delivery partners including locating and onboarding delivery partners collecting regular data from them so as to demonstrate the effective application of the charitys funds.
  • To lead on the delivery and development of the strategy for growth working with key stakeholders to do so. Reporting to the Trustees on the progress of that delivery.
  • Support the Meals & More Corporate Partnerships manager to create a sustainable funding pipeline with the goal of increasing the number of supporters who support the programme financially. 
  • Develop and lead as appropriate on new sources of fundraising including applications to grant giving foundations.
  • Act as an ambassador for Meals & More both externally and internally within Sysco GB building relations with the Sysco GB executive leadership team as well as colleagues within the business. 
  • Continue to strengthen Meals & Mores representation and advocacy in conjunction with the Sysco GB. Representing Meals & More on external panels and government organisations.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience of the charitable landscape and the issues around child poverty and knowledge or experience of fundraising including grants (giving and receiving). You will have leadership experience and be passionate and flexible with a genuine commitment to making a difference. You build strong authentic relationships and are willing to collaborate openly with partners clubs and your team. You are optimistic and solutions-focused leading with warmth and integrity inspiring a team that truly embodies the collaborative optimistic and authentic spirit of Meals & More.

Bringing an understanding of the school catering local authority and holiday provision landscape is desirable.
