Organizes andstructures daily schedule of appointments and screens all visitors for theSuperintendent for the various demands o his time for meetings and publicfunctions. This involves activities involving Maryland State Police matters aswell as the various Boards on which the Superintendent serves. Coordinates theSuperintendents appearances as the Governors surrogate at public events.
Conveys and acts as anintermediary for the Superintendent and consults directly with the Office ofthe Governor Legislators Cabinet Secretaries Bureau Chiefs and variousother personnel within the State government high level officials of other lawenforcement agencies private executives and professional persons and thegeneral public on the various policies and procedures of the Maryland StatePolice. Independently responds to the Governors staff concerning policies andlegislative matters. This requires considerable tact diplomacy discretiongood judgement and experience in making decisions of an administrative natureinstantly.
Manages the office andthe secretarial operations within the Superintendents Office. Reviewscorrespondence to the GovernorLieutenant Governor or otherDepartment Secretaries for final signature of the Superintendent. Advise andassist other clerical and sworn personnel within other Bureau Chiefs Officeson proper handling and preparation of correspondence both written and oralfor the Superintendents and Governors signature. This includes correspondenceto elected officials such as Mayors Senators delegates and other officials.
Serves and acts as the MarylandState Police representative on the Governors Constituent Team and is thecontact person for the Department. Makes frequent contact with the GovernorsOffice to ensure constituents concerns are handled in a prompt and efficientmanner. Acts as the initial contact person for the Governors Office and allState Departments to assist in resolving and type of concern or need that theDepartment can provide. Handles the Governors correspondence log for allcorrespondence assigned to the Maryland State Police for appropriate responses.
Organizes and coordinates allscheduling events with the Governors Office and Lieutenant Governors Officeinvolving participation of the Superintendent. Contact is made to ensureappropriate information is available to all participants includingpresentation materials resource and supportive documentation.
Other duties assigned by theSuperintendent of the Maryland State Police or his designee.
Education: Graduationfrom an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalencycertificate.
Experience: Eightyears performing administrative or secretarial work involving typingduties.
Note: Thirty credithours from and accredited college or university may be substituted at the rateof thirty credits for one year of experience for up to four years of therequired experience.
PreferredQualifications:
1. Experience inWindows based operating systems; preferably Windows 10.
2. Experience withMicrosoft products (Word Excel PowerPoint).
3. Experience withGoogle products (Docs Sheets Slides).
4. Experience takingmeeting minutes.
5. Experiencecompleting and sending correspondence for and Executive/Commander.

The selection process for this recruitmentwill involve a rating of the training and experience provided on theapplication. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be placed onan eligible list in the BEST QUALIFIED BETTER QUALIFIED and QUALIFIEDcategories. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select theindividual to fill this vacancy. The list will be valid for one year.
The examination will consist ofa rating of your education training and experience related to the requirementsof the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplementor the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience andeducation that is related to this position. Applicants may be given a physicalexamination and will be subject to an interview background investigationpolygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
