JOB SUMMARY

Teaching Associates will teach COMM 1006 Oral Communication.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Position involves all aspects of being the instructor of record for COMM 1006 Oral Communication courses: preparing a syllabus and assignments creating lessons and class activities attending classes weekly for the duration of the semester grading assignments holding weekly office hours and responding to student communication in a timely manner. Teaching Associates will also attend a pre-teaching orientation held before classes begin typically in July each year.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a student in the M.A. in Communication Studies program at CSUSB.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Be enrolled in good standing as a classified graduate student in the M.A. in Communication Studies program or have been accepted to the program with a formal letter of acceptance in hand.
• Maintain academic eligibility throughout the employment period (enrolled with 3.5 GPA or higher).
• Be available to teach courses at time assigned (MW or TR mornings or afternoons).
• Accept responsibility and have the ability to relate well to others.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
