POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Community Investment Team is responsible for ensuring that the Foundations grant programs special initiatives and grants management services are expertly managed and meet the needs of our donors nonprofits and the community. At our core the team keeps a steady pulse on community events partners and activities on behalf of the Foundation.


As the Community Engagement Manager you will play a key role in shaping our grantmaking strategy executing grant and capacity building programs and leading the teams work to build greater knowledge of and engagement with the local nonprofit community.


You will leverage your experience working in the nonprofit foundation or public sector in Greater Miami. You will be a vital knowledge resource internally and externally on significant community issues and the nonprofits most effectively addressing them.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Stakeholder Relationships / Community Engagement

  • Build on existing knowledge of nonprofits in Greater Miami by conducting frequent meetings with community-based organizations.
  • Serve as a primary Foundation contact for the nonprofit sector building a strong range of relationships seeking opportunities to be of support and value and meeting regularly with applicants to advise on proposals and programs.
  • Provide design strategy and facilitation support to nurture strong collaborative relationships and engage in cross-sector multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Represent the Foundation at community gatherings virtually and in person to support the work of existing partners and initiate conversations with potential partners.
  • Build visibility of the Foundations work by representing the organization publicly and shaping the teams editorial content for newsletters website and social media
  • Work closely with the Philanthropy department to provide guidance and recommendations to Fundholders and donor prospects on effective nonprofits working on issues of interest.

Portfolio Management

  • Serve as lead and primary point of contact for a variety of new and existing grantmaking portfolios. Includes but is not limited to launching new grant programs managing active portfolios of grantees leading public facing open grant calls and partnering closely with donor partners to successfully oversee all grantmaking activities.
  • Manage and support various grants programs at the Foundation working with the Community Engagement team and the community to shape guidelines and applications release and promote funding opportunities to nonprofits and conduct the proposal review process.

Learning and Impact

  • Support the Director in managing the teams approach to building nonprofit knowledge and engagement (e.g. office hours site visits convening). Participate in documenting and sharing knowledge for use internally and externally.
  • Conduct research as needed on community issues and organizations to inform grantmaking donor recommendations and other Foundation activities.
  • Support efforts to evaluate the results impact and effectiveness of the Foundations grantmaking.

Assist other team members or Foundation departments as needed and other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree or equivalent work or life experience.
  • 8-10 years of work experience in the social sector in a programmatic role in Miami at a nonprofit foundation or government entity.
  • Strong abilities and experience in program development and management research and analytical skills.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of community-related needs and issues and demonstrated leadership in addressing them. Prefer candidates who already possess a strong understanding of Miamis nonprofit landscape and holds existing relationships across Miami.
  • Commitment to and connection with Miami communities that have inequitable access to resources and opportunities.
  • Strong experience in cultivating extensive relationships across various sectors and segments of a community.
  • Grants management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Canva Asana email CRM database project management platforms internet research and/or other similar tools.
  • Multilingual is a plus
