GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Clubhouse Engagement Specialist - Communication and Multimedia: Would you like to use your communication and multimedia skills to lead and inspire others Are you dedicated to mental health and wellbeing Are you passionate about helping others reach their goals San Angelo Clubhouse might be the right place for you.

The San Angelo Clubhouse is a social service program that helps individuals recover from mental illness through participation in meaningful work-related activities designed to sharpen skills and build confidence. Individuals who come to the San Angelo Clubhouse and join our program are members and not patients or clients; they are members of the Clubhouse. The ultimate goal of the Clubhouse is to provide meaningful in-house work for our members and help them find and maintain employment if they desire to work.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: San Angelo Clubhouse seeks a high energy compassionate candidate who thrives on teamwork and service to offer skills training community supports and job placement to adults recovering from mental illness.

This opportunity will suit enthusiastic and self-motivated team players with a strong work ethic and commitment to support the organizations overall strategic direction and in accordance with the Clubhouse International Standards. Our organization operates according to a Work-Ordered Day and our members participate in work units.

For this position we are looking for someone who:

  • Has both strong communication and computer skills (expertise in Microsoft Office Suite; Canva and/or Adobe Illustrator experience preferred) is comfortable with social media and enjoys involving others in activities
  • Is detail oriented and a creative problem solver
  • Is compassionate calm and patient with those who may struggle with anxiety
  • Is comfortable working in a fast paced/active sometimes noisy environment
  • Is comfortable making changes to tasks and workspace to enhance and improve work environment and product results
  • Develops and maintains community partnerships
  • Makes community presentations as needed
  • Identifies and promotes wellness concepts at the Clubhouse

Employment Overview
All Clubhouse positions are hands-on direct service roles that support the rehabilitation process. This includes training and coaching duties both on-site as well as at community-based employment settings. Experience working with people with mental illness or other disabilities is preferred although not required.

The candidate must be a self-starter with a passion for working to engage members daily side-by-side on tasks that include:

  1. Entering Clubhouse data in our database primarilyalongside members for use in grants to fund San Angelo Clubhouse
  2. Work with members to complete a monthly newsletter(which may become more frequent in the future)
  3. Ensuresocial media is updated daily
  4. Consistent reach out to members
  5. Outreach to organizations supporters potential donors and stakeholders in the community. Much of this outreach will include public speaking and presenting alongside members.
  6. Occasionally filling in for a member in a transitional employment position
  7. Occasionally lead wellness meetings and activities
  8. Record member testimonials interviews and Clubhouse videos
  9. Prepare unit for next day and shut down unit at end of each workday
  10. Follow and educate others on the Clubhouse International Standards and Clubhouse Model
  11. Attend trainings (one to two weeks in length) to learn and better apply Clubhouse philosophy
  12. Other duties as required to fulfill needs of the Clubhouse including working in other teams/units as needed

  • EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited High School or G.E.D certificate issued in accordance with the Texas law.

    Clubhouse familiarity a plus.

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid Texas drivers license. Must be insurable on the Centers insurance. No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (other duties may be assigned): This position requires adopting and promoting the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs ( ) which are a guide to this job description. The position will assist the members to make changes that will empower them to focus clearly on specific goals related to the work ordered day employment relationship building housing and functioning at the highest level possible. The generalist assists with the overall organization of the work day which includes data collection information technology management and other office-related needs. The generalist would provide education and mentoring in the learning of job tasks managing stress and will perform assessment of job skills and assist members in maximizing their potential. The Clubhouse generalist will cross train job skills with Clubhouse generalists with other focuses. The generalist may be called to go to members job sites to assist and support them in the functioning of their jobs.

    Summary: This position is responsible for working in partnership with the Clubhouse director Clubhouse staff and Clubhouse members to continuously achieve the mission and goals of the Clubhouse community. As a member of the Clubhouse team this position will assist the members in determining and achieving personal goals.

    SHIFT: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. 4 p.m. Must be flexible for weekend evening and holiday coverage.
