Boston Public Schools is committed to the achievement and well being of each of our scholars and believe that strong leadership teams are a key lever in school success. We are looking for someone who can identify support promote and evaluate effective administrative leadership practices in schools. This individual should be seeking to apply their talents to recruiting and hiring talented administrative leaders and providing administrative leaders clarity support and accountability around expected practice. It is essential for this individual to demonstrate that they have impacted leader practice by aptly designing and delivering professional learning and by providing specific feedback on leader practice. Additionally this individual should be able to work with multiple stakeholders work collaboratively to set a vision and manage a program and be able to engage in difficult conversations.

SKILLS COMPETENCIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Learning for Administrative Leaders

• Design and implement a professional learning scope and sequence that meets the needs and drives the practices of administrative team members (assistant principals directors and deans) and leadership teams aligned to district priorities.
• Manage internal and external partners to facilitate an array of professional learning opportunities.
• Evaluate and revise professional learning based on demonstrated impact of development.
• Collaborate on the design and delivery of school leader (principals and heads of school) professional learning.

Leadership Pipelines

• Develop manage and execute leadership pipeline management to develop aspiring assistant principals with experience talent and licensure into principals
• Recruit and admit applicants for BPS partner leadership pipeline programs
• Pursue and manage the onboarding of pipeline options to ensure we have a bench of diverse partnerships and experienced talent.
• Collaborate with the Teacher Leadership team and Recruitment Cultivate and Diversity team to ensure there are strong career pathways supported by all parties involved
• Manage relationships with external partners to deliver strong opportunities for professional learning

Leader Supports

• Coach school leaders around hiring processes for and developing assistant principals.
• Create a vision and manage the execution of a mentoring program for new and aspiring school leaders within the district including mentor training and professional development
• Manage the mentors responsible for supporting new school leaders and assistant principals
• Develop Support programs that provide differentiated spaces for leaders to engage in professional development

Recruitment and Selection of School Leaders and Administrators

• Lead the Leadership Development Team in recruiting and cultivating of strong school leaders and administrators including designing recruitment sessions and professional development for aspiring leaders
• Support the hiring and selection process of school based administrators
• Work in collaboration with the Office of Human Capital to develop wide range techniques to cultivate and recruit candidates internally and externally that represent the diversity and meet the needs of our student body and faculty
• Directly manage the screening process for administrative positions
• Evaluate practices regularly and revise where necessary
• Create a data system to monitor and track the school leader pipeline including identifying trends that will support and improve the recruitment and selection process

Qualifications - Required:

• Masters degree in education or a related field
• 3 years or more of experience as a school administrator
• Significant experience independently designing and facilitating professional learning.
• Current authorization to work in the United States candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment

Qualifications - Preferred:

• Teaching and leadership experience in an urban public school setting
• Possession of a valid Massachusetts School Principal License proof of successful completion of MA-PAL and/or possession of Vice Principals License.
• Bilingual
• Current Boston resident

Terms: Managerial D61.

12 months (Full time 246 days July 1 through June 30).
