The Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana (LFK) cultivates healthy communities for all especially those who are vulnerable through impact-driven philanthropy. The Foundation makes charitable grants in six area counties: Jefferson Shelby Bullitt Nelson and Hardin in Kentucky and Clark in Indiana. LFK is part of CHI Saint Joseph Health in Lexington which is part of CommonSpirit Health a national healthcare system. The foundation was originally established as a fundraising foundation in the 1980s for Jewish Hospital supporting the facilities services and programs of Jewish Hospital in Louisville Kentucky. Over time it became the Jewish Hospital and St. Marys Foundation and then in 2019 when the former Jewish & St. Marys Healthcare facilities were divested to the University of Louisville it became a community grantmaking foundation known as the Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana.

Job Summary / Purpose

The primary duties of this position are to manage the community grantmaking program of the Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana which includes the grant application process ongoing reporting from grant recipients and analysis of LFKs impact as well as to oversee certain other charitable grant distributions. This person also represents LFK at community events and supports the administrative needs of LFKs local Advisory Council.

The position is based in Louisville KY but may require a day of travel to Elizabethtown and/or Bardstown KY up to 10 times a year. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a passion and commitment to accuracy detail and organization. This individual must be a motivated self-starter thrive in an environment with both local and remote team members and be comfortable managing various tasks simultaneously. The individual must have demonstrated proficiency with computer technology including Microsoft Office and Google Suite and social media applications. This role has the option of a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities
The Grants Associate will ensure that the Foundations grant-making and related processes documents procedures and implementation are executed professionally efficiently on schedule and in a manner consistent with our mission. Specific responsibilities include:

• Manages communications to inform area nonprofits of funding opportunities.
• Maintains relationships with nonprofit grant recipients including in-person and/or zoom meetings as needed.
• Oversees grant application and reporting tools
• Manages grant evaluation process with Executive Director and Advisory Council including all application tracking proposal evaluations denials and approvals.
• Manages grant agreement process and monitors grant payment process
• Maintains accurate file records for every applicant.
• Manages grant reporting including reminders to grantees and report submission troubleshooting.
• Creates impact reports with aggregated information from grantee final reports as requested by leadership.
• Works with consultants and vendors for website maintenance.
• Represents LFK at community events.
• Other program management and administrative tasks as needed by the Foundation.

Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree plus at least three years of work experience preferably in philanthropy or the nonprofit or public sector
• Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office products
• Prior experience in project management is highly preferred
• Prior experience working with grants is highly valued
• Ability to read and work with budgets and spreadsheets
• Interest in the Foundations mission
• Strong organizational writing and communication skills
