What you will be doing:
- Develop strategy and actively manage case-load
- Independently attend court hearings
- Independently draft complaints discovery and motions
- Work on and assist in trial preparations
- Communicate with clients and witnesses
- Experience taking and defending depositions
- Draft and argue motions including motions for class certification
- Conduct discovery including depositions
- Work with expert witnesses particularly in financial and statistical fields
- Manage settlement negotiations and participate in mediations
- Collaborate with co-counsel and opposing counsel
- Take cases to trial and arbitration if necessary
Experience you will need:
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- Active California bar membership in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of substantive employment litigation experience
- Experience taking and defending depositions and managing discovery
- Law and motion knowledge including experience arguing motions
- Working knowledge of California Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Court
- Strong analytical research and writing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced with developing and sustaining client relationships
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to representing employees and protecting their rights
