Job Description

Legal Counsels (APJ&MEA) are responsible for a broad spectrum of legal matters within the APJMEA business. Legal Counsel will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the success of business processes and provide counsel regarding contract terms and compliance with applicable laws regulations and company policies. 

 

He/she will report to Head of Legal APJMEA and will work with business teams across time zones in the APJMEA region especially with IFS Middle East in Dubai although the role is based in Riyad. IFS expects staff to work in the office at least 3 days a week.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Provide timely pragmatic legal and commercial advice to all functions. 
  2. Explain and bridge Western systems of law and culture with Saudi systems of law and culture.
  3. Maintain current knowledge of and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 
  4. Draft review and negotiate a range of commercial contracts including software licenses software consulting contracts project implementation service contracts SaaS teaming agreements prime and subcontractor agreements RFQ RFP value added reseller and sales channel partner agreements and NDAs.
  5. Actively negotiate and draft contract terms primarily for software licenses support & maintenance and partner agreements and typically in support of quarterly sales cycles.
  6. Responsiveness and pragmatism when helping sales teams to close deals.
  7. Review and approve variations to standard contracts within an agreed approval matrix and legal policy framework. 
  8. Assist in reviewing and assessing current processes structures and procedures for efficient legal compliance and support projects and initiatives to realign and streamline legal processes and documentation.
  9. Assist in developing maintaining and updating legal systems and records primarily through use of Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system. 
  10. Establish good working relationships with Corporate General Counsel other APJMEA regional legal counsel and all business units notably Sales functions.
  11. Liaise with external counsel and relevant authorities. 

 

Qualifications Experience & Demonstrable ability:

  • 3 5 years PQE as an in-house or transactional attorney with an internationally reputable firm and with progressive relevant experience in IT/Software commercial contracts (software licensing experience especially)
  • Admitted to practice law in Saudi UAE England & Wales or US jurisdictions.
  • Saudi national or rights to live and work in Saudi Arabia.
  • Law degree from a recognized university. 
  • Quickly identifies and analyzes problems to form an opinion and offer practical advice to the business. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Possesses high-level legal drafting and negotiation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent and articulate in both Arabic and English. 
  • Works effectively in both team and independent settings with the ability to work cross-functionally. Manages multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Is proficient with Microsoft Office Software curious about AI innovation.
  • Ability to work independently and to provide clear accurate and succinct advice to senior business leaders.
  • Willingness to work across time zones remotely and to travel when required.
