Job Description

Report to School Leader

School Overview

Greater Egleston High School is a Boston Public Pilot School serving approximately 125 students in grades 912. Located in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston the school was originally established as a community-based initiative to support students in need of alternative pathways to academic success.

We serve students ages 1621 who are seeking an alternative to a traditional high school setting. Our programming supports motivated students who are overage and under-credited in accelerating their progress toward a high school diploma through a semesterised schedule rolling admissions and tiered systems of support. With small class sizes capped at 15 each student receives holistic guidance through personalized advisories. We emphasize leaving to learn through regular field trips college immersion experiences internships and postsecondary career exploration.

Leave to Learn Program

Through our Leave to Learn program we give students the opportunity to personalize their learning and embed it in the context of the real world. Students go out into the Real World on Wednesdays to participate in community service internships field trips workshops panel discussions interviews etc. On other days students practice Real Life Skills during advisory such as Financial Literacy Social Emotional Awareness restorative practices post secondary planning and digital literacy and research. Leave to Learn experiences are a graduation requirement for Greater Egleston students.

Partnerships Coordinator Responsibilities:

Manage and expand Leave to Learn programming

  1. Expand number of school partnerships
  2. Manage all grants applications and data as it relates to Partnerships
  3. Lead student focused Leave to Learn programming by managing
    • Coordination field trips workshops college visits guests speakers
    • External partnerships
    • Student enrollment
    • Teacher placement
    • Student internship placements
    • Troubleshooting morning of adjustments. (i.e. coordinating substitute coverage for music production or finding culinary arts ingredients etc.)
    • Lead student exhibition preparation and presentations
    • CTE pathway creation and implementation
  4. Build systems and procedures With the Restorative Culture Team which protect the sanctity of instructional time and reinforce a positive school culture
    • Reinforce school community expectations
    • Run a weekly small-group advisory for high school students focused on college and career readiness skills
    • Model the schools values and the standard for professional behavior.
    • Be highly present and visible during school hours
    1. Work closely with Family Liaison and School Counselor and be a member of the Student Support Team
  5. Collaborate with School Counselor
    • to develop relationships with Early College Partners to support dual enrollment college preparatory and pathway programming
    • Supports development of job and career readiness programs
    • Arrange college experiences and exposure activities

Experience

  • Experience working in a school setting or other youth programs.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency with diverse communities.
  • Program management.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree: Bachelors degree or equivalent.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in a development-related role in an educational environment.
  • Minimum of three years professional experience working with students in an urban setting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Competency in use of google applications including google classroom
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset by actively seeking feedback embracing challenges and pursuing continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with youth
  • Willing to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to use data management organizational and technological tools and programs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with and motivate a diverse set of stakeholders including school staff students families and community agencies toward a common goal.
  • Willingness to be part of a collaborative environment and work closely with colleagues and parents.
  • Energy enthusiasm patience a positive attitude and a sense of humor
  • Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States by their first day of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree: Masters degree
  • Fluency in another language

Terms:

The Partnerships Coordinator is a Managerial Tier B position. The hours to be set will be dependent on the school and student needs.

School Schedule

Full-Time 8:00 am-4:00 pm during the school year.

Note:

School-based Managerial employees will work 223 days each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 183 days in which school is in session and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school.

School-based Managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather school-based Managerial employees need not report to work.
