What you will do at Harris County Precinct 4:
Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a dynamic and community-minded Community Center Manager to lead operations at the Burnett Bayland Community Center in the heart of Houstons Gulfton neighborhood. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily activities and use of the facility ensuring it remains a vibrant welcoming hub for residents of all ages.
The ideal candidate will coordinate and supervise center operations manage facility scheduling and support the delivery of meaningful community programsincluding recreational educational and enrichment opportunities. This position also involves evaluating day-to-day functions and participant engagement to ensure that services align with community needs and organizational priorities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise coach and support center personnel to ensure high performance and excellent constituent service.
- Create and maintain a welcoming inclusive and safe environment for all center participants and visitors.
- Develop and implement new programs partnerships services and curriculum that respond to the evolving needs of the community.
- Oversee ongoing programming and lead classes or activities when needed to ensure continuity and quality.
- Build meaningful relationships with regular center participants to foster a strong sense of community and engagement.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local organizations nonprofits and community leaders to provide classes workshops lectures entertainment and other enrichment opportunities.
- Maintain record keeping and reports.
- Promote and communicate Commissioner Precinct 4 initiatives services and resources to participants as appropriate.
- Participate in professional development opportunities including training in program development safety and leadership.
- Support operational needs by setting up and breaking down rooms for events classes and meetings.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of the center in the absence of custodial personnel.
- Attend regular leadership and departmental meetings to report updates share feedback and align with strategic goals.
- Submit requisition requests and manage purchasing needs to support center operations and programming.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the community center during the planning and implementation phases of the Burnett Bayland Master Plan.
- Be available to work before during or after emergencies or disasters as required by the department.
- Adjust work hours as needed when the facility operates as a designated voting site including early mornings or late evenings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

Requirements
Education:
Experience:
- Five (5) years of managerial experience
- Two (2) of those years in a supervisory capacity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel Outlook and Teams.

Preferences
Experience:
- Two (2) years of management experience in a nonprofit community engagement community center parks or public service organization.
- Experience planning and coordinating community-focused events.
- Experience engaging with community stakeholders donors and/or elected officials and their offices.
- Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
