The Opportunity:
Were seeking a Network and Server Operations Team Lead to oversee the delivery integration and sustainment of secure high-performance ICT systems in support of Australian Defence Force mission planning capability. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing both the technical direction and day-to-day operations of network and server environments across fixed and deployed Defence contexts.
In this role you will lead a team of skilled technicians to maintain and evolve critical infrastructure including physical servers networking hardware system configurations and software environments. Youll provide technical leadership across system imaging security compliance scripting and data support while ensuring alignment with Defence ICT accreditation standards and operational requirements. You will also manage performance drive continuous improvement and foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
This position is ideal for an experienced systems leader with a strong understanding of Defence ICT environments and a passion for delivering secure mission-ready infrastructure. Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role will include but is not limited to:
Lead and mentor a team of technicians in the development integration and sustainment of software hardware data tools and processes for ADF mission planning systems in fixed and deployed environments.
Conduct performance reviews set team objectives and foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture
Oversee the maintenance of physical server and networking hardware ensuring high availability and performance
Manage the development and maintenance of system configurations for MPS laptops and servers
Coordinate the installation configuration testing and deployment of software and security updates
Provide technical leadership for resolving data support issues and ensuring mission systems meet operational requirements

Support Defence strategic networks ensuring compliance with security and accreditation standards
Identify manage and mitigate program and technical risks within the operations scope
Review verify and enhance documentation for MPS development and sustainment
Ensure project deliverables are met on time and within scope
Foster collaboration with technical staff and client stakeholders to deliver innovative secure ICT solutions
Qualifications Skills and Experience
Essential:
Defence ICT environments (including Defence Protected Environment (DPE) and Defence Secret Environment (DSE)
MS Windows Imaging
MS Windows security
MS Windows Server Platforms
Technical/Admin level experience with client operating systems from MS Windows 10 11
MS Windows Office products
Software Scripting
Defence ICT Security Accreditation requirements
Desirable:
Working knowledge of Aviation Mission Planning and knowledge of AC-C2CS environment
Layer 2/3 Networking
Technical/Admin level experience with Linux client operating systems
Experience in software development environments.
Database development experience using SQL Server
Advanced Office Computing Application knowledge in Win10/11 Excel Word Access & XML
Software testing including unit testing
Hyper-V
VMware/VSphere
Intel McAfee EPO Suite
Geospatial data experience
Recovery/Backup Tools
