CAPITAL PLANNING & OPERATIONS

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time Continuing Fredericton On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri 7:45 am - 4:00 pm 36.25 hours per week (Summer Hours)

Salary: commensurate with qualifications & experience

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Assistant Comptroller the Director Administration & Finance directly supervises and mentors a dedicated team of four individuals within the areas of payroll processing accounts payable procurement invoicing and ITS. This position provides critical financial advice and information to the University community.

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to departmental staff setting clear goals and supporting growth through feedback coaching and mentoring.
  • Serve as key financial advisor to the Assistant Comptroller Directors of Capital Planning and Operations and the AVP Capital Planning and Operations.
  • Lead financial management reporting and control for Capital Planning and Operations on both campuses.
  • Oversee financial transaction processing to ensure accuracy resolve discrepancies perform reconciliations and audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Collaborate with Financial Services and Capital Planning on strategic initiatives and multi-year planning efforts.
  • Provide strategic oversight and planning for Capital Planning and Operations IT programs in partnership with ITS across both campuses.
  • Drive operational efficiency and process simplification by leveraging technology and enhancing internal controls to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Lead all Capital Planning and Operations IT projects ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and user needs.
  • Develop and implement annual strategic IT plans with defined goals activities and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate ongoing development and management of the departments computerized maintenance management system in collaboration with ITS and other university units.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline with a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • 10 years experience in progressively responsible positions preferably within a complex multi-stakeholder unionized environment.
  • 5 years of supervisory and leadership experience demonstrating an ability to be open-minded flexible and adaptable

Additional Strengths

  • Strong communication interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Aptitude for understanding new technologies and experience managing a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to co-ordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong working knowledge of government regulations.
  • Ability to provide clear concise and well-researched explanations to questions and / or concerns.
  • Ability to create and foster a team environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with applicable financial laws/regulations (e.g. CRA).
