Bachelors degree in accounting or related field required.
Masters degree in accounting or related field preferred.
CPA - Certified Public Accountant required upon hire.
15 years of demonstrated experience leading accounting and financial reporting function and relevant work experience required.
Leadership skills and innovative thinking. Must be able to make independent decisions.
The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of financial accounting cost accounting generally accepted accounting principles and internal accounting controls as well as a general knowledge of financial analysis planning and computer systems.
Ability to analyze understand and review financial documents and issues.
Ability to effectively interact with federal and state regulatory agencies.
Knowledge of Texas Charity law and a general understanding of Stark and the Anti-kickback statutes.
Excellent communication skills interpersonal skills and ability to effectively build relationships across the organization at all levels.
Demonstrates an ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Word Excel Outlook
This VP Financial & Regulatory Reporting is primarily responsible for the financial reporting for Texas Health Resources including consolidated financial statements financial policies financial internal controls bond reporting financial compliance with affiliates charity care AHA surveys and accounting whitepapers for M&A activities. Position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.
The VP Financial & Regulatory Reporting has the following duties and responsibilities:
Lead and direct the timely and accurate completion of the consolidated financial statements and related reports to include monthly board reporting and financial updates and working with regulators and external auditors to understand reporting requirements and resolve significant accounting and/or audit issues.
Responsible for internal control over financial reporting and consistent accounting standards in compliance with laws and regulations including developing and recommending financial policies that demonstrate the fundamentals of sound financial management GAAP and internal control (e.g. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Sarbanes Oxley FCPA SEC etc.).
Oversee quarterly and annual disclosures required for bond reporting and annual rating agency presentations. Support corporate bond debt relations function with accurate financial information in coordination with the Treasury department.
Assist with ensuring financial reporting compliance within managed joint venture companies in order to consolidate reliable transparent and high-quality financial data into system entity-wide financial disclosures.
Oversee financial compliance with affiliations such as Southwestern Health Resources MAA & related agreements and other affiliations.
Responsible for the development of accounting whitepapers for M&A activities.
Responsible for compiling multiple sections of the AHA surveys covering stats and financial data ensuring that it aligns with external public filings. Requires communication with multiple departments across the organization to ensure the data reported is consistent and accurate.
Responsible for coordination of all financial data for public reporting included within the systems social purpose report as well as reviewing all major data points. Requires multiple reviews and coordination with department leaders across the organization. Responsible for ensuring all disclosures are consistent with other public documents.
Responsible for coordination of all financial data required for the systems annual charity care reporting to ensure the system continues to meet the requirements to maintain its nonprofit status. Requires multiple reviews and coordination with department leaders across the organization.
