Mechanical Engineer (Construction Manager)

Position Title:Engineer/Project Manager- Emphasis in HVAC Experience - Support Services with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE)

Location: Remote (50% Traveling Required)

Salary: $90000-$100000 Annual Salary

Position overview:

The purpose of this position is to assist in the review and assessment of existing BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) BIE (Bureau of Indian Education) using technical engineering knowledge to recommend solutions for problems concerning nationwide system/utility designs construction or improvements for ventilation/HVAC systems and other possible environmental hazard abatement projects.

This position willperform onsite evaluations of physical facilities nationwide. The evaluations will determineactual condition of existing buildingsthe ventilation or water systems functional adequacycompliance with code requirements including life safety health ADA compliance energy conservation and environmental compliance. Additionally Engineer/Project Managerwill examineexisting facilities to address recommendations in the ventilation and water system assessments.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Performonsite inspections and evaluations of physical facilities nationwide to determine actual condition of existing buildingstheir functional adequacycompliance with code requirements including life safety health handicap energy conservation and environmentand examineexisting facilities utilities and site for renovation reuse or functional modifications
• Supportdevelopment of budget estimates and justifications for requests and verifythe already identified work/conditions submitted by facility managers during inspections and evaluations
• Ensure that schedules inspections materials methods and equipment used in planning design and construction are appropriate and timely.
• Developplans and conceptual design solutions for renovations and improvements to facilities.
• Supportthe initiation of projects or provides technical assistance in identifying and/or verifying facility conditions repair estimates and timetables
• Evaluateand recommends potential solutions renovations and improvements of existing facilities
• Reviewproposed sites for a project evaluates and makes recommendations as to adequacy with regard to topography subsurface conditions utilities such as water sewer gas electric power and heating systems and development costs and other pertinent factors
• Enters information from the ventilation assessment reports into the MAXIMO asset management system

Required Education Knowledge and Skills:

• Bachelors Degreein EngineeringArchitectureConstruction Management or related degreesrequired with a license preferred
• 10 years related experience
  • Experience in ventilation/HVAC system engineering and water system engineering is preferred.
• Knowledge of concepts principles and practices of facilities planning architecture and engineering sufficient to serve as a team professional for the development of project Program of Requirements (PORs) for use in major improvement projects involving existing sites
• Government experience preferred
• Ability and experience to lead a team of professional and technical workers to accomplish team goals and objectives in the planning design and construction of IA systems and facilities.
• Extensive experience in project management for facility improvement is required
• Average agility and dexterity. Duties will include moderate walking over rough uneven or slippery surfaces recurring bending crouching stooping stretching climbing ladders or similar activities recurring lifting of moderately heave objects less than 50 lbs. and regular visits to construction sites
• Must pass a pre-employment background check
