Remuneration: Band 5 salary from $86136 per annum (pro-rata) plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO
Location: Julia Gillard Library Tarneit this role may be required to work across multiple locations throughout the Wyndham Municipality
About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader Childrens Programs & Services you will required to provide high quality customer service to library patrons through planning delivering and overseeing the provision of quality programs collections and services to the community. The position will work closely with the other Childrens team members as well as other Library staff to establish and support programs for families from our culturally diverse community.
The role will focus on the delivery of a range of programs in person and online including regular childrens programs such as Baby Time Rhyme Time Story Time after school programs and ad hoc events such as school holiday performances author talks parenting workshops and tie-ins with Council initiatives. You will have a passion for fostering a culture of lifelong learning and for working in an all-inclusive community. You will also be responsible for providing high quality customer service and information support to our library patrons and maintaining the library space and collection.
Regular weeknight and weekend shifts are a requirement of this role and ad-hoc adjustments to your work pattern will be required for events or programs. This position may be required to rotate to other branches in line with operational requirements.
The work pattern for this role is:
Permanent Full Time 70 hours per fortnight RDO once a fortnight an evening shift once a week a Saturday morning Rhyme Time rotation every 6 weeks
What your day may look like
- Assist with library set-up including banking procedures
- Prepare and deliver a Rhyme Time session in the morning
- Planning time for an upcoming parenting talk
- Attend the Library Childrens Team meeting
- 1-3 hour team leader desk shift in the afternoon
What you will bring
- Degree or Graduate Diploma in Information Management or equivalent with related relevant experience or lesser formal tertiary qualifications and substantial relevant related experience
- Program delivery skills and knowledge event planning experience preferred.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and time management skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to a rapid changing environment
- Leadership to the library customer service team when rostered on desk
- An understanding of public library practices and knowledge of trends in the provision of services and programs for families
