Under the direction of the Dean of University Libraries provides oversight to the Rickett Library and guides the development of supervised personnel.
Position is located on-site at the Fort Worth campus. Holiday evening and/or weekend duties are required. Schedule is determined based on hours of operation and peer availability.
Responsibilities
40% Primary responsibility for planning coordination and administration of the Rickett Library including the service units and operations of the library. Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinates with the Vice President of External Operations & Dean of Fort worth and the Dean of University Libraries to ensure operation services and resources meet the needs of Tarleton Fort Worth.
Monitors directs and evaluates the work of Rickett personnel (professional and paraprofessional staff) to ensure quality adherence to policies and procedures accuracy and productivity and a collaborative working environment.
Maintains communication with all library staff to facilitate the work of the library and ensure library staff are informed of library activities and initiatives.
Works with direct reports to coordinate recruitment hiring orientation training supervision and evaluation of staff.
Establishes and evaluates workflow patterns in the creation of appropriate service policies and procedures that adhere to professional standards and best practices. Documents policies and procedures for processes and services.
Collaborates with the Dean of University Libraries and library leadership in the development and execution of strategic plans to ensure that library services support established missions and initiatives including budgeting.
Guides the strategic planning of short- and long-range goals for the Rickett Library.
Makes budget recommendations and monitors expenditure for the Rickett Library.
Ensures the timely compilation and analysis of statistics for required reports and other documents as requested.
Maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends in user and public services outreach library technologies and research tools and resources.
30% Programming & Outreach: Responsible for programming and outreach primarily to the Rickett communities.
Responsible for developing and implementing outreach activities which promote library resources and services which can include but are not limited to presentations events publications exhibits and displays. Maintains accurate data for reporting.
Organizes events/programs which advocate library resources and services and communicates with library staff campus divisions and departments promoting those events/programs.
Leads the team in designing publications print and electronic which promote library services and resources working with peers to create and sustain a unified message.
Represents the library at student orientations and other campus events.
30% Professional Librarian: Serve the community using expertise in reference instruction liaison and professional duties.
Reference
Provide reference services through various communication methods to on- campus and off-campus students and faculty and keep accurate counts.
Develops and delivers necessary training for traditional and new reference services.
Staff Reference services as assigned.
Provide point-of-use instruction and assistance to individuals or groups as needed.
Instruction
Actively solicit create and teach library instruction to support the universitys curriculum and students in both traditional and online formats.
Provide both general and subject-specific bibliographic instruction to classes as requested by faculty members which teach information literacy skills via embedded sessions bibliographic sessions video creation and instruction as necessary for student and faculty development.
Prepare instructional materials for classes and other groups as needed including but not limited to videos LibGuides pathfinders and programming.
Subject Liaison
Serves as liaison to one or more academic departments working with faculty to meet their information needs and the needs of their students.
Work with assigned departments and coworkers to enhance the librarys collections and act as a point of contact for services.
Collection development for reference serials and all academic areas of Rickett Library including evaluation selection and weeding.
Professional
Recommends policy and procedure changes as it deals with the library instruction reference liaising and services.
Actively develop and implement ideas for the promotion of the library to the university community including but not limited to programs activities and services.
Work within teams and departments to recommend and assess new programs policies procedures and services.
Assists in covering library service points as needed.
Attends professional meetings and remain abreast of relevant current developments in the field
Positively represents Tarleton State University in professional community and state organizations.
Maintains professional demeanor and appearance in representing the Library and the University.
Serve on university committees.
Attend meetings of faculty/staff.
Maintains open door to internal and external customers.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
ALA-accredited masters degree in library or information science or international equivalent
Four years of experience in college or university library; including two years of experience working as a librarian
Preferred qualifications:
1-2 years of experience supervising preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications.
Knowledge of automated library systems.
Excellent interpersonal customer service presentation and research skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work independently as a team member and as a team leader.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $59004 to $78672 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
