Job Description

The Desktop Support Technician provides technical user advice and support to academic and administrative staff for problems and questions related to network communications. The incumbent also monitors systems and advises senior staff of network application status.

Department Specific Functions

1. Provide support for Windows and Mac workstations throughout the School of Education and Human Development.

2. Provides support via telephone email and in person for faculty and staff of the School of Education and Human Development.

3. Provides support for events requiring setup of AV equipment in meeting spaces.

4. Sets up and maintains computers in the School of Educations conference rooms computer labs public areas and classrooms not managed by the Office of Classroom Management.

5. Coordinates Computer Lifecycle Management purchases for staff and faculty at the School of Education.

6. Relocates desktop computers and peripherals between buildings.

7. Provides support for AV services used by faculty and staff of the School of Education.

8. Participate in client-side software migrations and installs as needed.

9. Assists with purchasing of software and hardware by providing recommendations.

10. Provides support for miscellaneous devices such as mobile phones and personal printers

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. Any relevant education certifications and/or work experience may be considered

Knowledge Skills and Attitudes:

Ability to diagnose and correct technical issues within Windows and macOS.

Ability to support various AV related technologies such as connectivity between laptops projectors displays and AV switching devices.
