Job Description

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The purpose of this position is to raise private funding for Boise State University through individual corporate and foundation contributions. To carry a portfolio of key major and principal gift prospects. The position is responsible for the identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of prospective and current major gift donors to Boise State University. This position will be assigned to Athletics.

Department Overview:

A nonprofit Idaho organization the Boise State University Foundation was established in 1964 for the benefit of Boise State University. We work to secure philanthropic support for the university by developing and nurturing relationships with our alumni and friends and stewarding gifts made to support Boise State. The Foundation works closely with university leadership the Boise State University Alumni Association and the Bronco Athletic Association.

Mission: To build a greater Boise State University we provide fundraising leadership and service across the university and partner with donors and alumni to inspire private support.

Level Scope:

Recognized master in professional discipline with significant impact and influence on campus policy and program development. Establishes critical strategic and operational goals; develops and implements new products processes standards or operational plans to achieve strategies. Regularly leads projects of critical importance to the campus; these projects carry substantial consequences of success or failure. Requires significant influence and communication with executive leadership. Problems faced are frequently complex and multidimensional requiring broad based consideration of variables that impact multiple areas of the organization.

Essential Functions:

95% of time the Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Development:

  • Prepare and implement strategies to attain Athletics annual and campaign development plans. Work with Athletics administrators faculty staff and designees to identify and define priority needs to be funded through external support.
  • Plans and implements strategies for donor cultivation solicitation and stewardship. Raises
    major gifts through pledges outright gifts or deferred gifts.
  • Researches and cultivates donors to match the needs of Athletics with interests of prospective donors. Coordinates and cooperates with the universitys Athletic Director on prospect identification cultivation solicitation and stewardship activities.
  • Assigns priority to development activities over more programmatic activities.
  • Manages relationships with a portfolio of prospective donors with responsibility for qualification cultivation solicitation and stewardship.
  • Represent Athletics through external engagement with key partners and employers through service on community boards and participation in aligned conferences and events.
  • Administration of member benefits and fulfillment includes maintaining communication with groups.
  • Promote the evolution of new big idea concepts in Athletics.
  • Manage direct and motivate key volunteers and volunteer committees for Athletics.
  • Supervise train and coach the Athletics development team.

5% of time the Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Development:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability to raise major gifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in managing relationships with high-level prospects in an effort to secure major gifts.
  • Competency in navigation of donor database systems and related software.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors Degree and 8 years experience or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in higher education specifically fundraising for college Athletics.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range starts at $100000 and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-classbenefits package including (but not limited to):
