A Day in the Life

Reliability Engineering Post-Market is a core engineering function for Medtronic Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) Operating Unit and owns primary responsibility for Risk Management and Design Verification of Class III market-released products.

The Reliability Engineer maintains device safety efficacy and compliance per Quality Management System processes and supports design changes manufacturing changes supplier changes standards compliance verification testing of product and shelf-life and test method validation.

This role is intended to focus on complex medical electrical equipment systems (hardware/console). Looking to expand functional capacity in console/systems equipment compliance and post-market change management primarily focused on Nitron CryoConsole which may involve more than 1 year of development and experience in the role to achieve competency. Role may also support various other product families including Arctic Front Advance PulseSelect Sphere-9 FlexCath Contour FlexCath Advance DiamondTemp and other portfolio devices and accessories.

This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Develops coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts.
  • Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability.
  • Completes risk analysis studies of new design and processes.
  • Investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
  • Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company customer and governmental agency reliability objectives.
  • May develop mathematical models to identify units batches or processes posing excessive failure risks.
  • As necessary proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.
  • May determine units and/or batches requiring verification testing and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and qualifications including EU MDR GSPR NRTL certifications (IEC 60601) and various applicable ISO/ASTM/BIS/etc. standards.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements(To be considered for this role please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume):

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 2 years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

Nice to Have (Preferred qualifications):

  • Electrical or Systems Engineering and/or experience with electrical or electro-mechanical systems software hardware.
  • IEC 60601 and/or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) experience or familiarity.
  • EU MDR/GSPR familiarity.
  • Experience in risk management and design change/change control.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$84000.00 - $126000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
