Position available: August 2025

Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of licensed staff members the Teachers Assistant will assist licensed professional staff in meeting instructional goals and objectives that have been developed for each child. He or she will also provide student supervision that will free certified professional employees from non-professional duties so as to enable them to make contributions to other aspects of the educational program including but not limited to: student staffings; parent conferences; and assessment analysis and curriculum development sessions.

Ministerial Expectations
The Teachers Assistant is considered a ministerial employee by their role working in a Catholic School and agree to work diligently to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its value system. By word and example Catholic school employees support all the official religious teachings of the Catholic Church throughout their personal and professional lives. Instructional Assistants agree to play a substantial role in conveying the Catholic Churchs message and carrying out its mission.

Essential Job Functions

Serve as a positive role model of the Catholic faith is his/her words deeds demeanor dress and actions both within and outside the classroom.
Assist and guide students to reinforce reading language arts religion mathematics computer instruction and other skills.
Assist teachers in integrating religious studies concepts throughout curricula.
Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and to implement assigned programs.
Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises tests and assessments.
Assist in classroom preparations and in developing strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
Assist with classroom behavior management to minimize disruptions ensure a safe and orderly classroom and ensure students are on task.
Assist students in non-instructional areas such as supervising the student lunch programs bus duty playground duty corridor duty and other related non-instructional tasks.
Accompany students on field trips for supervisory purposes.
Construct copy distribute and use educational materials as directed by the teacher.
Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion learning achievement of ISP/ IEP objectives etc.
Assist teachers in planning designing implementing and assessing high quality At-Home Learning lessons as necessaryusing Seesaw Google Classroom or other electronic platforms.
Follow all applicable safety rules procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students including those with disabilities or other special needs.
Understand and adhere to all tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
Maintain a lifestyle that is in full accord with Church teachings both within and outside of the school environment.

Additional Duties
Assist guidance pupil services staff or building administration as needed and perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

Equipment
Use standard office equipment such as SMARTboards personal computers telephones copiers fax machines and phones.

Physical and Mental Demands Work Hazards

While performing the duties of this job the employee may frequently be required to sit stand walk talk hear see feel with hands reach with arms walk up or down multiple flights of stairs and be physically able to perform duties as assigned including the ability to lift up to 20-30 pounds if needed.
Works in standard office and school building environments but also has ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.

Hours / Benefits
This is a part-timeposition hours not to exceed 29 hours per week as per a schedule developed by the Principal.

Salary Range*: $15.00-$22.00 *Final hourly rate will be determined by relevant years of experience in a similar job combined with education and professional licensure.
Benefits: Not applicable.

Education and Experience

Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university inEducation is preferredbut not required.
Possession of an IllinoisProfessional Educator License (PEL) Illinois Substitute License or ELS(PARA) is preferred but not required.
Must love children be patient and be willing to take direction from classroom teacher.
Previous experience is a plus but not required.
Practicing Catholic is preferred but not required.
