Job Description

Introduction

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to assist the Registrar with all functions ofcollection documentation; and the management and care for approximately 4000art objects in the permanent collection and any objects on loan to theMontgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA). The work responsibilities are: assistsregistrar in all activities related to collections management; assistsregistrar with the care and storage of artworks; assists registrar withpacking shipping and receiving of artworks; and contributesto the department objective by accepting additional assignments and performingadministrative duties. Thisposition reports to the Museum Registrar.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelorsdegree in Art History or related field and one (1) yearof Art Museum work experience.

NOTE:Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:Positionrequires moderate physical activity that requires considerable use of your armsand legs and moving your whole body such as climbing lifting balancingwalking stooping and handling materials. Requires handling of average-weightobjects up to 40 pounds.

Kind of Examination

Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. If there are more than five qualified applicants a selection procedure will be administered to rank the applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken (in accordance with Personnel Rules and Regulations Rule VII Section 3). If there are five or less qualified applicants they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
