Key Duties:
- Providing support to students individually and in small groups within primary secondary or college environments.

- Guiding students in building confidence independence and social skills through structured interventions.
- Implementing behavior management techniques and offering emotional support as required.
- Working in partnership with teachers SENCOs and therapists to establish a nurturing learning atmosphere.
- Promoting inclusion and engagement to ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all students.

- Graduates in Psychology Education SEN Social Work or related disciplines seeking practical involvement.
- Experienced Teaching Assistants Youth Workers or Support Workers with a dedication to SEN.

SEN Teaching Assistants must be patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, supportive relationships with students. They need excellent communication skills to interact effectively with both pupils and staff. A good understanding of special educational needs such as autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties is essential. The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations is vital. Experience using strategies to support learning, behaviour, and emotional development is highly valued.
Education
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths typically at grade C/4 or above. A-Level qualifications or a university degree desirable, especially in education or relevant subjects. Classroom or school experience paid or voluntary experience in an educational setting is highly valued. Safeguarding training often provided upon placement, but prior knowledge is advantageous.
