Life Skills Coach
We are looking for support staff in Auburn and Grass Valley. All openings may have the opportunity for additional hours on call as well as potential flexibility to be combined with other openings.
First Step: Please apply on our website @ -
- SLS: Saturdays 2 pm to 10 pm (8 hrs)
- IHSS*: Sundays 9 am - 12 pm (3 hrs)
Grass Valley -
- Monday 5:30 pm to 11 pm (5.5 hrs)
- Wednesday 5:30 pm to 10 pm (5.5 hrs)
- Thursday 5:30 pm to 11 pm (5.5 hrs)
- Friday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm (8 hrs)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Supportive Living Services (SLS) is a program designed to provide in-home and community-based assistance to adults with developmental disabilities who live in their own homes. Life Skills Coaches assist individuals with the goals they have set for themselves assist them with living their best most fulfilling and independent life.
In this position a few examples of the type of work you will be doing may include assisting the individual with: learning daily skills and activities menu planning grocery shopping cooking budgeting cleaning using public transportation making and attending appointments volunteering and participating in social leisure activities.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide in-home and community based assistance to consumers according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start SLS.
- Documenting of daily charting notes.
- Reporting of issues and concerns regarding consumers to New Start Case Manager.
- Attending in-service training sessions when offered as well as complete continued education monthly.
- Some of the individuals we support use electric or manual wheelchairs receive assistance with adaptive equipment for transfer and may require personal care assistance (ex: toileting bathing brushing teeth wound assistance).
QUALIFICATIONS PRE-REQUISITES
- Must be able to speak read and write English.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- At least 1 year of paid or volunteer experience supporting individuals with disabilities. This may include caregiving teaching coaching or lived experience.
- Staff must be able to work with and support individuals who have disabilities.
- Some individuals we serve may require staff transportation support. Support staff eligible to drive clients must be eligible and willing to use their personal vehicle during employment. Eligibility requires review and maintaining copies of valid CA drivers license current insurance and clean DMV record with the office.
- By Day 1 of Orientation: Staff must show proof of current CPR and First Aid certification. Certification must be from an in-person or hybrid course.
- By Day 1 of Orientation: Staff must show evidence of a negative TB test and a clear physical exam from within the last year.
- *IHSS: IHSS staff must be certified through IHSS Placer County or be willing to become certified as part of the hiring process. Pay for IHSS shifts determined by IHSS Placer County ($18.10 per hour as of January 2025). Additional resources attached below Auburn Starting Pay Rate: $19-20 per hour SLS Grass Valley Starting Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Compensation: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour

The purpose of Supportive Living Services is to help our clients live as independently as they can and to have as full a life as they desire.
