Job Description

Title Pre- K Teacher SY 25/26

South Bend Community School Corp Pre- K Teacher SY 25/26 (5212)

Contract Length: School Year

Immediate Supervisor: Principal Early Learning Coordinator

BASIC FUNCTIONS : A Pre-Kindergarten teacher is highly qualified and holds an Indiana State teacher license with an Early Childhood endorsement and is responsible for delivering the Early Learning State Standards and the SBCSC curriculum in a differentiated general education learning environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

A teaching candidate must fully implement the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum following the corporation provided instructional resources including but not limited to High Scope Fundations Heggerty.

Additionally the teacher will:
Plan lessons and provide instruction support and guidance manage the learning process and focus on students individual needs and assess student growth use COR notes. Maintain a safe classroom and appropriate classroom management.

Make parent contact regularly and as necessary to advance each childs learning (both positive and opportunity for work)

Train in and utilize curriculum
Complete and maintain all required student records.

Utilize the SBCSC technology as required

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
Uses a variety of teaching strategies to engage students in the learning process

Structure the classroom environment to maintain student interest and engagement
Maintain professional responsibility for planning implementing and evaluating the process of learning by attending and participating in required staff meetings/staff development
Works together with the building team Pre-K team and administration to ensure collegial relationships and easier transitions for students
Implements and uses PBIS High Scope methodology and socially and emotionally appropriate

activities

Maintain regular documented communication between home and school
Utilize technology to enhance the learning environment and differentiate instruction

QUALIFICATIONS:
Teaching License with Ealy Childhood endorsement and be Highly Qualified

CONSIDERATIONS BY ADMINISTRATION: High Scope Training and experience teaching with High Scope preferred. Experience working with children who are not typically develeoping preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours. Must be able to handle stress. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other technologies and office equipment sitting on floor and in chair standing and walking for extended periods of time; kneeling; bending at the waist; lifting; pushing; pulling and carrying equipment supplies and materials weighing up to 25 pounds; repetitive hand movement and fine coordination to use a computer keyboard; emotional stability to work effectively underpressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read; prepare and assure the accuracy of documents
