Job Description

Purpose

The Pre-sales Engineer will collaborate with the sales support or account team by acting as technical experts in customer addition they determine the technical requirements to meet client goals and act as liaison between the organizations sales/business development and engineering groups.

Work Overview

  • Provide pre-sales technical support for Building Management Systems (BMS) Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) including solution design BOQ preparation and technical documentation.
  • Work with vendors to select the appropriate systems (controllers FDAS panels switches structured cabling etc.).
  • Review project requirements and assist the sales team in preparing technically compliant proposals.
  • Attend client meetings present technical solutions and support during clarifications or tender evaluations.
  • Ensure proposed designs align with relevant standards and project specifications.
  • Improve negotiations and contract closing by providing support to the Sales Team.
  • Create quotes bill of quantities per design principles and sales proposals on behalf of the sales team.
  • Liaise with vendors for technical qualifications.
  • Provide scoping support to sales representatives and substantiate the solutions offered to prospects from both a requirements and technical point of view.
  • Following up on and closing out all pending items in relation to the requirement through to ensuring thorough level of documentation for handover to implementation team.
  • Performs other duties within the scope of the role to support the organizations goals.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Strong technical understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) including components design principles and system integration.
  • Knowledge of auxiliary systems such as structured cabling network switches firewalls and access control.
  • Experience working with vendors to correctly select systems (e.g. BMS controllers FDAS panels network equipment).
  • Must have strong English communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be confident socially adept and comfortable in client-facing discussions.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales or pre-sales targets.
  • Committed to excellence with high attention to detail.
  • Capable of completing technical sales certifications from vendors (Schneider Honeywell etc.).
  • Able to handle pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Work Experience and Education Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or any equivalent course
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Pre-Sales BMS Security systems (Fire Alarm CCTV Access Control).


Prerequisites Strong knowledge of ELV systems, particularly in: Structured Cabling: Expertise in Cat6 and fiber optic cabling. Home Automation: Familiarity with smart home technologies. Audio Systems: Experience with DANTE audio over IP. Visual Solutions: Knowledge of Audio Visual Teams meeting room solutions. Network Infrastructure: Understanding of network design, Wi-Fi systems, MDF/IDF networks. Office Automation: Proficiency in integrating automated office systems. HVAC Control: Experience in designing HVAC control systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and design purposes. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with estimation software and tools (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam). Experience working in the ELV contracting industry, ideally with a focus on BMS contracting. Understanding of local and international codes, standards, and regulations related to ELV systems and associated technologies. Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities for accurate cost estimation. Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in calculations and documentation. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members. Ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports and proposals. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities. Problem-solving mindset with the capacity to work independently when required. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (e.g., Revit) is a plus. Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
