Job Description
Job Summary
Vertiv is currently seeking a Principal Software Architect for a full-time position. The position is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance over the development of code in a regionally dispersed open architecture software platform. The position works with technical managers business leaders other architects and senior members of the development teams to bring new products and product enhancements to market. This position works closely with all corporate functions providing detailed knowledge transfer about the softwares capabilities and functions.
Responsibilities:
- Drives and helps to define external and internal APIs for hardware and software.
- Interfaces with standards bodies and customers to co-create and drive standards
- Develops and analyzes software product line and individual product requirements artifacts
- Implementation of AI/ML into products for optimization of tasks and environments
- Develops product line and individual product architecture artifacts
- Drives architectural design and implementation consistency throughout the product line
- Serves as advisor for product design and development efforts for multiple projects that include hardware and software interaction
- Participates in research activities for architectural improvements/advancements
- Support and mentor team members as needed to help meet overall architectural and team objectives
- Proposes and implements improvements in architectural approaches and architectural policies
- Work between architecture-level and implementation-level engineering meetings to maintain a system-wide view and apply risk mitigation strategies
- Works closely with other corporate functions as required.
Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent experience
- 15 years experience working with multiple software languages
- 15 years experience with Linux development environment and able to configure own development environment
- 15 years developing Linux applications
- Strong MS Windows user skills (email PowerPoint Excel) and able to set-up MS development environment (e.g. Pycharm or VS code)
- 15 years of C/C Python and BASH languages experience
- 5 years experience with Enterprise Architect
- Working knowledge of Web application development using HTML/ CSS/JS PHP RESTful interfaces or similar technologies
- 10 years of REST API development
- 10 years experience with Github/Gitlab
- 5 years deploying and developing CI/CD actions or pipelines
- 7 years experience with MySQL PostGres or other common databases
- 7 years database design knowledge and proficiency in SQL language
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- General understanding of Object-oriented design and analysis.
- General understanding of computer security vulnerabilities and protection techniques
- Demonstrable work with NGINX and NGINX configuration
- Knowledge of Network and Server Management protocols such as SNMP Modbus Redfish SMTP TCP/IP
- Experience with HTML5 development
- Travel Expectations:
- Less than 50% travel expectation
