Job Description

Founded in 1980 ANEW has a unique and successful reputation for assisting underserved populations into apprenticeship and family wage careers. ANEW is focused on changing the culture and demographics of industries that have historically not been diverse or inclusive.



POSITION TITLE: OUTREACH & RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Outreach and Recruitment Lead this positions primary responsibilities include conducting outreach and recruitment for ANEW programs and services. This position will assist with all activities related to outreach and recruitment of prospective students/clients including but not limited to: Info-sessions information meetings event planning assistance tabling events such as job and career fairs partner and client meetings. This person will also assist ANEW with the function of external communication and social media for the organization as needed. The ideal candidate is energetic comfortable with a high volume of human interaction client focused and enjoys collaboration.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Outreach and Recruitment Specialist is responsible for executing the outreach and recruitment plan for ANEW programs. Outreach activities include but are not limited to attending job fairs and community events creating collaborative referral partnerships and forming relationships with K-12 organizations. The Outreach and Recruitment Specialist will also support the efforts to build relationships with identified apprenticeships community organizations and other non-profit or government programs. The Outreach and Recruitment Specialist will work closely with program staff as a team with shared goals to support outcomes of ANEW programs including: Pre-Apprentice Training Youth Exploration CDL RISE Up ARRC. This person will be knowledgeable on all of ANEWs programs in order to best provide clients the full scope of service that ANEW offers.

Responsibilities


  • Perform outreach activities in alignment with defined outreach strategies to support outcome measurements

  • Conduct statewide virtual and in-person presentations

  • Represent ANEW at outreach/networking meetings and events

  • Establish collaborative referral partnerships with but not limited to apprenticeships state and local entities non-profits industry affiliates high schools/school districts post-secondary institutions skills centers pre-apprenticeship programs and districts that have established apprenticeship preparation programs

  • Connect with community service organizations to educate and inform about services and programs provided by ANEW

  • Provide information about ANEW services programs and apprenticeship opportunities to target population

  • Build a social media presence for ANEW programs

  • Share and distribute marketing materials

  • Ensure marketing materials are current and update as needed

  • Develop presentations and marketing materials which will engage the target population

  • Track outreach efforts and monitor performance

  • Create and maintain a partner and referral log

  • Adapt and adjust outreach efforts to meet the needs of ANEW programs

  • Field and screen inquiries to determine appropriate program referral

  • Perform other duties as assigned


MINIMUM / REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Demonstrated commitment to economic racial and social justice and an understanding of the ways institutions and systems hurt communities of color through both conscious and unconscious bias

  • High School diploma or equivalent required (Associates Bachelors or Masters degree preferred) or minimum of 1 year of industry related experience.
  • 1 Years experience performing Outreach or Recruitment in a professional role operating within under-resourced communities.

  • Effective and efficient Interpersonal communication with diverse stakeholders (i.e. students employers educators and administrators)

  • Multi-tasking and effective organization of time and tasks

  • Understanding the concept of grant funding and fulfilling the commitment(s) made by the grantee to the grantor

  • Flexibility and adaptability in working with a growing non-profit

  • Strong communication and administrative skills with a proven track record of managing multiple projects

  • Experience in working with collaborative partnerships

  • Knowledge of effective student case management and management of caseload

  • Comfortability performing in-person outreach activities in under-resourced communities.

  • Experience performing outreach and recruitment activities to historically marginalized groups preferred.
  • This position is required to drive to and from events meetings info-sessions often in ANEW vehicles. Therefore a valid drivers license and proof of insurability is required.



CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must possess a U.S. drivers license.

  • Background screening through Washington State Patrol

  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include evening and or weekend

  • Proof of citizenship or other authorization for employment

  • Continuation of employment is contingent upon successfully performing work described

  • Continuation of this position is dependent on achievement of performance goals and availability of funding

WORK LOCATION: ANEW Tukwila Training Center and Satellite locations as assigned. This position may include up to 75% of travel.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time non- exempt position. Regular workweek is 40 hours Monday through Friday business hours. Regularly evenings weekends and some travel may be required.

REPORTS TO: Outreach & Recruitment Lead



SALARY:
This position is an hourly non - exempt position with a starting salary rate of $31.00 - $32.90 hourly. This position is grant funded and continuation of this position is subject to funding.

*Years of experience is based on directly related professional experience.

BENEFITS:

This position is a non-exempt position. The person in this position is expected to serve a 90-day probation period. Benefits will not be included until and unless the position is made permanent which is contingent upon performance evaluation funding board direction and potential re-development of the organization and its training/service delivery models. If the position is more than 30/hours per week employer paid medical benefits will include medical dental and vision benefits.
A portion of the medical premium is made by the employee through a pre-tax contribution at time of payroll posting. Employees at 30/hours week or greater qualify for full benefits and pay a pre-tax contribution of $80 per month. Employees who work less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for paid health benefits. Additional employer paid benefits include: basic life insurance vacation sick leave holiday pay and taxes as required by law. Employees are not permitted to use paid vacation or sick time during their first 90 days of employment.
