The Opportunity
This role sits within the Strategy and Solutions Chapter which encompasses a number of different strategic and innovative teams. Our purpose is to guide strategic priorities advance value delivery through solutions and digital excellence govern compliance and drive sustainability to deliver continuous improvement and strengthen Global Procurements impact on the wider Roche organization.
Within the Strategy and Solutions Chapter the Global Procurement Sustainability Compliance & Risk team is focused on enabling Roche to deliver against its Sustainability ambitions and targets while ensuring a resilient and compliant supply chain.
You will report to the Scope 3 Decarbonisation Centre of Excellence (CoE) Lead within the GP Sustainability Compliance & Risk Team. The CoE is a strategic ownership execution body for Scope 3 decarbonisation roadmap. The CoE oversees and supports the business to own and drive reductions in Scope 3 emissions aligned to Roches Net Zero commitments and Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated targets.
As Sustainability Manager in the Scope 3 Decarbonisation Centre of Excellence (CoE) you will bring structured thinking facilitation analysis and project execution. Using your specialized knowledge and expertise in sustainability and climate the role actively drives progress across the CoEs focus areas; Initiatives and Portfolio Management Data & Digital Technology Target management & Reporting Finance instruments supporting net zero Engagement Communication and Change Management.
You will collaborate with internal procurement business finance and other relevant colleagues to understand needs and gather feedback to develop enhance or deploy functional enabling services and solutions that increase procurements effectiveness and efficiency. You will actively support and drive progress on decarbonisation enabler topics aligned with procurements role supporting effective and efficient delivery of its climate targets.
You will work closely with other team members to align support and drive decarbonisation enabler topics develop and deploy tools templates and solutions to decarbonisation communities stakeholders and the broader procurement function.
As a Sustainability Manager you will play a variety of roles according to your experience knowledge and general business requirements including but not limited to these core responsibilities:
You are a sustainability practitioner and developing subject matter expert; developing delivering and continuously improving tools and reporting approaches aligned to corporate goals
Execute and continuously improve activities related to our greenhouse gas accounting. This includes all Scope 3 categories with particular focus on activity based/supplier specific accounting for 3.1 and 3.2 (Scope 3 Purchased Goods & Services and Capital Goods)
Lead/support matrix programmes related to reducing Roche value chain emissions. Analyse and prepare insights on sustainability topics and large/complex data sets
Support preparation of clear and engaging stakeholder update materials including target progress tracking and decarbonisation programme
Who you are
You hold a university degree preferably in life sciences finance or business
You have 5 years relevant experience in heath care/life sciences supply chain or consulting
You have technical understanding of current and emerging standards in relation to corporate climate action including Science based targets initiative (SBTI) and Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP)
You have technical and analytical experience in the context of supply chains and/or sustainability including direct experience of corporate carbon accounting and/or product carbon accounting/life cycle assessment (LCA)
You have a solid understanding of healthcare industry decarbonisation levers and challenges with experience in delivering sustainability programmes or initiatives
You have excellent project management and interactive skills including ability to deliver across multiple programs and sub-workstreams at the same time
You have strong communication and influencing skills with excellent ability to simplify i.e. explain complex or higher complexity capability information to others or collect/translate moderate complexity stakeholder requirements in situations requiring alignment and consensus
You have experience of healthcare risk management compliance and supplier management
You demonstrate curiosity active listening and a willingness to experiment and test new ideas when appropriate with the focus very much on continuous learning and improvement.
You are open-minded and inclusive generously sharing ideas and knowledge while being receptive to ideas and feedback from others.
You are fluent in English to a Business level
