General Summary
Develops and implements the organizations corporate tax strategy and manages all aspects of the organizations tax reporting function.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Advises senior management on strategies for minimizing the organizations tax liabilities.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize the companys tax position.
- Prepares tax planning reports and estimates the organizations tax obligations.
- Reviews and submits tax related documents or filings which may include federal state or local tax returns declarations or extensions.
- Oversee and provide support to external tax advisors in the preparation and review of federal state and local tax returns to ensure timely and accurate filing.
- Assist external advisors in preparation and review of tax provision calculations for financial statement reporting under applicable accounting standards.
- Liaise with external tax advisors consultants and auditors to ensure alignment on tax strategies and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations staying current on new tax laws and changes in legislation.
- Lead the tax planning process including forecasting and budgeting for tax liabilities.
- Manage tax audits and work with tax authorities to resolve issues and minimize tax risks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary financial data and ensure proper tax treatment of business transactions.
- Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on tax-related matters and best practices.
- Analyze and interpret tax data to provide insights and recommendations to senior management for business decision-making.
- Ensure effective control over all aspects of the tax process.
- Oversee and manage tax audits including preparing responses and creating supporting documentation.
- Review quarterly and annual tax projections and estimates.
- Assist in the management of state and local tax audits including responding to auditor inquiries and negotiating audit settlements.
Experience and Education
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Taxation Accounting or a related field
- 8 years of experience in tax tax accounting or related accounting roles
- A CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Strong experience in preparing tax returns and financial statements.
- Strong analytical accounting and research skills.
- Solid understanding of corporate tax code and compliance procedures.
- Familiarity with international tax compliance.
- Knowledge of tax accruals including familiarity with ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48)
