Job Description

ABOUT THIS COMMITTEE


The University of Alberta Students Union (UASU) is striking an Elections Task Force to lead an
analysis of the UASU elections including but not limited to the UASU bylaws relevant to
elections the administration of elections barriers students face leading up to and during
elections UASU programming in relation to elections student engagement during elections
turnout during elections student appointments to university governance bodies through UASU
elections concerns around vacancies and replenishment and any other relevant concern(s) in
relation to the UASU elections. The second purpose of the Elections Task Force is to provide
recommendations for changes to any of the areas analyzed including but not limited to
proposing changes to the UASU bylaws.


The UASU is looking for up to three (3) Students-at-Large who will sit on the Elections Task
Force. They will give students input and feedback on elections and help with other duties that
may be required of them.

EXPECTATIONS AND TIME COMMITMENT


The Elections Task Force Committee will maintain strict neutrality in its analysis and
recommendations ensuring that no political ideological or personal biases influence its work
with the sole goal of improving UASU elections and connected areas.


This committee will meet weekly. The meeting schedule is subject to change based on the
availability of committee members. Committee members are expected to attend as many
meetings as possible and carefully review all meeting materials in advance so they can make
informed decisions.


QUALIFICATIONS


Applicants must be University of Alberta undergraduate students registered in at least one
course for credit in the Fall and Winter semesters of the 2025/26 academic year. While it is not

required previous experience with student groups governance and/or elections is preferred.
This position is open to all faculties and all experience levels are welcome.
