Reports To: Principal
The Teacher shall be evaluated bi-annually based on goals and objectives composed and agreed to by the Principal Chief Academic Administrator (CAA) and the Southgate Academy Board.

The employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools and controls. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required for this position including close vision. The noise level of this position is generally moderate.
Include the following but not limited to and may require other duties as needed:
Days and hours designated on academic school calendar (200 days) and when requested by the Principal CAA EL Director Special Education Director Charter Holder/Superintendent for training meetings and other academic functions. A minimum of 200 days is scheduled. On a regularly scheduled school day teachers are required to sign in 1/2 hour before student arrival and clock out 1.5 hour after student departure. However there may be other times throughout the fiscal school year when a teacher is required to come in earlier and stay later than the academic day due to specific reasons designated either by the Principal CAA EL Director Special Education Director Charter Holder/Superintendent or the Southgate Academy Board. In some cases a specific Teacher or a specific group of Teachers may be asked to perform a certain duty or task needed for the overall success of a specific program.
Wages include Proposition 301 monies and depend upon Certification/Education years of experience and years of service with Southgate Academy. All certifications licenses and registrations must be through the State of Arizona (including emergency certification) for a teacher to be paid according to the adopted pay rate scale adopted by the Southgate Academy Board.
The Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students within a designated class grade and has full control of the classroom. The Teacher evaluates and monitors student performance in accordance with the Arizona State Standards AASA ACT and ACT Aspire requirements. The Teacher must be familiar with standards concepts practices and procedures within the area of field being taught. The Teacher relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
The Teacher performs a variety of tasks and works under the direction of the Principal and typically reports to the Principal. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. The Teacher under the direction of the Principal at Southgate Academy oversees supervises and directs the daily operations and educational programs of the students in conformance with District policies and regulations. The Teacher will perform some administrative tasks which promote an exemplary educational program through the attainment of District as well as school-based goals. The Teacher shall interpret and communicate Southgate Academys program student handbook policies and procedures to the students parents and the community.
Full-Time
