The UT Southwestern Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is recruiting an Instructor position for Molecular Medicine section. The section has existing strengths in study mechanisms of treatment resistance in breast cancer and to develop new therapeutic approaches to overcome such resistance. The Alluri laboratory has developed several cutting edge pre-clinical models of treatment-refractory breast cancer including patient-derived xenograft models which provide unique opportunities to study molecular mechanisms of treatment resistance in breast cancer. Detailed mechanistic insights into mitochondrial metabolic adaptations that drive treatment resistance in tumor samples collected from breast cancer patients remains an acute unmet need.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. Degree in chemistry biology biomedical engineering or closely related disciplines. Successful candidates will have expertise in mechanisms of mitochondrial oxidative stress mitochondrial signaling cascades and metabolic processes that orchestrate mitochondrial functional dynamics. Candidates should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and personal attributes of initiative problem-solving and teamwork.
